Bambu acquires investment management technology provider Tradesocio to accelerate global growth

The acquisition of Tradesocio will extend Bambu’s digital wealth capabilities, doubling the number of employees to 130 and further accelerating global expansion

SINGAPORE, July 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Bambu is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tradesocio, a WealthTech company with 65 employees, specialising in investment management and trading technologies with offices in Singapore, India, and Dubai. Bambu acquires investment management technology provider Tradesocio to accelerate global growth.

Through the acquisition, Tradesocio brings years of experience delivering and operating high-volume trading platforms across various asset classes. The acquisition puts Bambu in a unique position that will provide customers greater agency through broader system capabilities that go beyond the offerings of existing robo advisor platforms. In addition, Tradesocio’s presence across EMEA and India, along with an existing portfolio of clients, is set to further Bambu’s reach in a rapidly expanding and evolving global digital wealth market.

Ned Phillips, CEO of Bambu, said, “After five years of building solid foundations, Bambu is now entering a phase of rapid growth. This deal helps us in three key areas: it expands our product offering into stocks and crypto, it gives us a wider global footprint and enables us to scale our team effectively to match exponential demand. We believe this positions us well for our Series C and ambitions of becoming the global leader in WealthTech.”

This is unlikely to be Bambu’s last acquisition as they foresee acquiring more companies that strengthen their product mix and global reach to impact the digital wealth industry.

UAE Presidential Advisor begins visit to Washington, DC

Beginning his week-long visit to Washington, Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to UAE President, highlighted the strength and continuity of the UAE-US partnership while intensifying cooperation on pressing global challenges like climate, COVID-19, and nuclear proliferation.

“The US and UAE are close friends and important allies who share the same outlook for a more peaceful and prosperous Middle East,” Dr. Gargash said. “The UAE will work with the US and other allies to pursue diplomatic solutions to our shared challenges.”

In briefings with senior Biden Administration officials, Members of Congress, and foreign policy analysts, Dr. Gargash will reinforce the UAE’s firm commitment to de-escalation and diplomacy in a common quest for a more peaceful and prosperous region. Now representing the UAE before a fourth US President, UAE Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba, will join Dr. Gargash throughout his visit.

Dr. Gargash and US officials will also consider ways to deepen cooperation in order to resolve conflicts and address pressing global challenges, such as climate change, global COVID-19 vaccine distribution and economic recovery efforts. Along those lines, increasing bilateral trade and investment is a key priority for the UAE, which is already the US’ largest export destination in the Middle East, and a significant investor in the US.

His visit to Washington will be the first by a senior UAE diplomat since the signing of the Abraham Accords last fall, which normalized UAE relations with Israel. Dr. Gargash will discuss ways to strengthen and expand upon the accords with his US counterparts.

On Thursday, Dr. Gargash, a former UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, will speak at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Assistant Minister for Political Affairs Lana Nusseibeh will join Dr. Gargash at the event to announce a new diplomatic training initiative with SAIS.

Emirati delegation discusses enhancing cooperation with Estonian officials

A delegation from the UAE, led by Abdulnasser Al Shaali, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has visited the Republic of Estonia to explore bilateral trade, investment, and economic opportunities.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Education, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, UAE Space Agency, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the three-day visit, Al Shaali underlined the UAE’s aspiration to further build upon its positive relations with Estonia.

“Estonia is an important and rapidly emerging trading partner for the UAE in Europe. We are confident this visit has provided a constructive platform for the further development of our ties with the Estonian public and private sectors. It is clear that significant complementarities exist between the UAE and Estonia across several cutting-edge sectors, which we should seek to leverage to the mutual benefit of both our countries,” he noted.

The UAE delegation convened meetings with several Estonian government officials, including Andres Rundu, Under-Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Jaan Reinhold, Estonian Ambassador to the UAE; Margus Rava, Head of Business Diplomacy at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ando Leppiman, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications; and Daniel Erik Schaer, Commissioner-General of the Estonia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Meetings touched upon the desire of both sides to increase engagement across all areas of the UAE-Estonia trade and economic relations, with a focus on cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, space, information technologies, as well as sustainable agricultural development.

The two sides also agreed to investigate the establishment of a UAE-Estonia Business Council.

The UAE delegation also participated in the UAE-Estonia Business Seminar and engaged in dialogue with leading Estonian private sector companies, where the substantial investment opportunities that exist in both the UAE and Estonia were highlighted.

The delegation, upon the invitation of the former President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, also participated in the ninth Estonian Friends International Meeting.

UAE sends 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Tunisia

The UAE has dispatched an aircraft carrying 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Tunisia to curb the spread of the virus.

This urgent response comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to enhance the health conditions of the Tunisian people during the pandemic.

Rashid Mohammed Al Mansouri, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia, stated that the leadership’s directives to send the COVID-19 vaccine doses are in line with the UAE’s support for the Tunisian people during the difficult circumstances Tunisia is facing now as a result of the pandemic.

He added that in November 2020, the UAE sent a plane to Tunisia carrying 11 tonnes of medical diagnostic equipment, ventilators, mobile breathing units and PPE (personal protective equipment) to enhance the efforts of frontline workers.

Earlier this week, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received a phone call from President Kais Saied of Tunisia, wherein they discussed the latest developments of COVID-19 and its health, humanitarian and social impacts.
