Gov’t sets cap on group size at restaurants

The government Tuesday issued an order putting a limit of up to 10 persons on a restaurant table indoor, while it set the cap for outdoor dining at 15.

The government’s new communication, which falls under Defence Order No 19 of 2020, states the distance between tables should be at least two meters.

Malls, shops, banks, telecommunication companies, restaurants, hotels, coffee houses and water and electricity offices, based on the new communication, will only allow in people who are given clearance by the “Green Sanad” application that would prove a user is vaccinated.

Non-abiding facilities and venues could be subject to a JOD1,000 for the first violation, JOD3,000 for the second and JOD5,000 for the third. A fourth violation would lead to shuttering the facility.

The communication will go into effect Monday, October 18, 2021.

Rum International Marathon to kick off later this month

The 8th edition of the Rum International Marathon is scheduled for October 22, announced Nayef Bakhit, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

In a press conference on Tuesday, Bakhit said that organizing the marathon at this time signals to the world that Jordanian tourism, namely in the “Golden Triangle” area (Wadi Rum, Petra and Aqaba), has returned to normalcy.

The marathon, which is organized by Unlimited Distances, is part of the authority’s efforts to attract international tourists to the region and will have a positive impact on Jordan in general and Aqaba in particular, he added.

About 84 runners from Arab and foreign countries will be participating in the marathon, which, Bakhit said, is a “new addition to the artistic, heritage and tourism activities that began in Aqaba, which is now a green zone.”
