Jordan’s ambassador presents credentials to Netherlands king

Ambassador Dhaifullah Ali Al-Fayez presented on Wednesday presented his credentials to King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands, as Jordan’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary.

During a ceremony at the Royal Palace in The Hague, Al-Fayez conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings and wishes of progress and prosperity to King Willem Alexander and the Dutch people.

The King of the Netherlands commended the wise policy of His Majesty King Abdullah and the distinguished ties between the two kingdoms, wishing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its people further progress and prosperity.

The ceremony was attended by the Director of the King’s Office and a delegate from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Queen Rania meets Sheikha Moza in Doha

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah Wednesday met with Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in Doha. The meeting took place while Her Majesty accompanied His Majesty King Abdullah II on a working visit to Qatar.

During the meeting, Sheikha Mozza and Queen Rania enjoyed a conversation about issues of common interest.

Arab League reviews preparations to hold Arab Housing Forum in Jordan next December

The 86th meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction (CAMHR) kicked off deliberations at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, the League’s housing department director, Jamal Jaballah, said the meeting, chaired by Algeria, discussed the final preparations to hold the 4th Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development (AMFHUD) in Jordan next December.

For his part, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, said the (CAMHR) has made “qualitative” leaps to advance joint Arab action and set a mechanism for holding housing conferences every two years to exchange expertise at the Arab level.

Egyptian Culture Minister visits Al-Salt

Egyptian Minister of Culture, Enas Abdel Dayem, and her accompanying delegation on Wednesday visited the city of Al-Salt, north west Amman, on the occasion of including the city on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Abdel Dayem, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Hazza Al-Barari, toured the tourist trail that includes Al-Ain Square, Al-Hamam Street, Al-Salt Historical Museum and the Aqaba Square project.

Abdel Dayem was briefed from President of the Salt Municipal Committee, Ali Batania, on the Aqba Square project, which constitute a key project for the development of downtown Salt.

Abdel-Dayem, accompanied by a number of officials and representatives in the city, also visited Al-Salt Secondary School, as the first school in Jordan with a historical and cultural heritage and has contributed to the graduation of Jordanian state men since its establishment.

The Egyptian Minister commended Al-Salt’s originality heritage and expressed her admiration for the projects under implementation its heritage center, congratulating the people of Al-Salt on the occasion of its inclusion on the World Heritage List.

3rd int’l dates festival to kick off October 21, announces agriculture minister

Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, on Wednesday announced the launch of 3rd International Festival of Jordanian Dates on October 21.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry of Agriculture, in the presence of UAE Ambassador to Jordan, Ahmed Al Balushi, Hneifat said the festival is held with Emirati support, in cooperation with Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation (KIADPAI) and Jordan Dates Association (JDA).

The event affirms the “deep-rooted, brotherly and historic” Jordan-UAE relations, Hneifat said, adding that the festival is also held, as the Jordanian date cultivation and production sector in the Jordan Valley regions, is witnessing “a tangible” development.

The Kingdom’s production of the high-quality Medjool dates nearly stands at 14 percent of the global production volume, he said.

Noting the Jordanian date sector’s “rapid” developments, he said its exports have reached various countries worldwide, adding that the festival, which is organized annually, has become a forum for exchanging skills and an outlet for promoting Jordanian dates.

The UAE envoy, for his part, stressed the “deep-rooted, historic” bilateral relations, supported by the two countries’ leaderships to develop Jordan’s dates sector.
