Israel’s policy contravenes World Cities Day values-RCJA

Israel’s practices in the occupied city of Jerusalem, based on an apartheid policy, mainly murder operations, displacement, daily incursions and property confiscation and restriction of all aspects of life contradicts values of World Cities Day (WCD), which the world celebrates on October 30 annually, Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Kanaan, said.

In a press statement on the WCD occasion on Sunday, Kanaan referred to Israel’s systematic policy to destroy the habitat, which makes life difficult and deprives the basic components of rights guaranteed by humanitarian laws and international treaties.

RCJA affirms position of the Jordanian people and Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, in support of Palestinian people, he said.

In this regard, he calls on WCD celebration organizers to pay attention to Jerusalem and dedicate its next ceremony to the holy city to highlight world public opinion on Palestinian people’s tragedy.

RCJA noted this celebration’s message aims to demand Israel to end occupation of Palestine and Jerusalem and implement international treaties and international legitimacy resolutions, including the two-state solution and establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, he said.

He also called on media outlets and international humanitarian and human rights organizations to shed light on Jerusalem and its people’s suffering to expose Israeli practices.
