King congratulates Jordanians on New Year

Amman, His Majesty King Abdullah Saturday wished Jordanians “warmest” wishes on the New Year.

King Abdullah wrote on Twitter: “Warmest wishes to all my fellow Jordanians on the New Year. May it be a year of blessings and great progress for our dear Jordan.”

Soldiers injured while defusing ‘old’ phosphorous bombs

Amman, An official military source at the Jordanian Armed Forces Saturday said several soldiers had been injured from inhaling fumes while “dealing” with what he described as old phosphorus explosives at a site where ammunition was destroyed.

He added that several of the team working on defusing the explosives suffered from “shortness of breath”. They were taken to Prince Hashem bin Al-Hussein Hospital, adding that their health condition is “good.”

The source added that one of the cases suffered from second-degree burns in the hands and left leg and was transferred to Al-Hussein Medical City.

The Army General Command wished the injured a speedy recovery and urged Jordanians not to share rumours.
