Bahraini Ambassador meets Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister

Rome-Resident, Bahraini Ambassador to Croatia, Dr. Nasser Mohammed Al Balushi, met here today Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlic Radman.

The ambassador is on a visit to Zagreb to present his credentials to the Croatian President.

The two sides affirmed the strength of the Bahraini-Croatian relations, stressing the importance of enhancing bilateral relations across various fields to meet the aspirations of the two friendly countries

Youth Minister praises youth’s patriotic role; announces launch of ‘Ambassadors of Bahraini Youth’ programme

Youth Affairs Minister, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, has praised the kingdom’s celebration of the Bahrain Youth Day.

She congratulated Bahraini youth on the occasion, marked in recognition of their giving and patriotic efforts, out of their strong belief in their pivotal role in enhancing the kingdom’s progress and glory, as well as in ensuring it a better future.

She indicated that the Bahrain Youth Day provides an opportunity to highlight the landmark achievements attained by youth at all levels to shed light on the kingdom’s pioneering youth model, as well as an occasion to focus on the inspiring young entrepreneurs who have set themselves as examples to be followed by others.

She affirmed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s constant interest in Bahraini youth, citing HM’s numerous meetings with them and assertion in his speeches that they are the kingdom’s inexhaustible wealth, contributing to motivating them to play their national role to the fullest.

She asserted that the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attaches great importance to Bahraini youth among its priorities, citing the government’s keenness to harness all its capabilities to them to enable them to assume their responsibilities in building the nation.

She indicated that the leadership of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, of the youth sector, and HH’s unwavering interest in meeting youth needs and turning the challenges they face into starting points to build a better future have made Bahraini youth more determined to contribute to enhancing the kingdom’s status and increasing its achievements.

The minister also paid tribute to the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his ongoing interest in Bahraini youth and keenness to develop youth competencies.

Rawan Tawfiqi affirmed the Youth Affairs Ministry’s keenness to continue implementing its youth-directed policies and programmes, in cooperation with the relevant government entities to build a generation of creative and innovative young people who are capable of taking the initiative and actively involved in making decisions that serve the Kingdom.

The minister announced the launch of the “Ambassadors of Bahraini Youth” programme.

Hopefuls shall have to present a 15-second film in which they justify why they think that the Ministry of Youth Affairs should choose them as ambassadors of Bahraini youth at external gatherings.

A specialised team shall choose those who meet specific standards and requirements, and the winners will represent the kingdom at one of the official meetings abroad, alongside the Youth Affairs Minister.

Bahraini Ambassador to India participates in SCO International Conference

Bahraini Ambassador to India, Abdulrahman Al Quoud, participated in the International Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), which convened under the chairmanship of India on March 23 and 24 in the Indian capital New Delhi.

The conference aims to discuss means of boosting cooperation between the SCO member states, with the participation of the organisation’s partners of dialogue and observatory members. It also aims to spotlight main regional and international issues and coordinate efforts to handle them.

The Bahraini ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his best wishes to the conference of every success. He also conveyed the greetings of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, thanking the Indian government for hosting the conference.

The Bahraini ambassador commended the efforts of India during its presidency of SCO, affirming the importance of the organization in boosting cooperation to tackle regional and international issues. He also thanked the organisation for granting the Kingdom of Bahrain the status of “dialogue partner”, stressing Bahrain’s commitment towards the organisation and its members and support to all efforts aimed at achieving the organisation’s goals.

Bahraini youth cornerstone of development, Speaker

Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam praised the role of youth as the cornerstone of development and the pillar of the future in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“Supporting youth and achieving their hopes and aspirations represent a collective national responsibility”, he said in a statement marking Bahrain Youth Day, annually observed on March 25.

The Speaker praised the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to Bahraini youth to hold leading positions and including all development fields.

In the statement, he praised youth’s active participation within Team Bahrain as well as their contributions to enhancing the standing of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He also commended the efforts made by HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Speaker praised the role of the state agencies, civil society institutions and the media in supporting the values of national belonging, citizenship and identity among youngsters.

He also noted the success of the initiatives aimed to implement the national plan “Bahrainouna”, led by the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister congratulates the President of the Hellenic Republic

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today sent a cable of congratulations to the President of the Hellenic Republic, HE Katerina Sakellaropoulou, on Greece’s Independence Day.

His Royal Highness also sent a similar cable to the Prime Minister of of the Hellenic Republic, HE Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The President Receives The Permanent US Representative To The UN In New York

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Friday, at his residence in New York, the Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, on the sidelines of the Water Summit held in New York.

During the meeting, the water crisis and the threat it poses to food security and environmental diversity in Iraq were discussed, in addition to the negative effects of climate change and the tangible decrease in water flow rates from the upstream countries.

The President of the Republic indicated that Iraq suffered from climate change, high temperatures and water shortages due to lack of rain and population growth, as well as due to some water policies of neighboring countries.

He stressed Iraq’s need to know the water plans of the riparian countries to be able to develop the necessary plans and reach adequate and fair shares with these countries.

The President stressed that there are plans at a high level to reach real solutions to the issue of water, and that the government is serious about its work and is awaiting the approval of the budget to complete the necessary projects in this regard, pointing to the need to improve water management methods and develop mechanisms to respond to the effects of climate change and high temperatures in Iraq.

The President of the Republic spoke about the importance of developing serious solutions to address environmental pollution resulting from the energy sector, pointing to the existence of upcoming projects related to the issue of gas and addressing its negative effects on the environment.

Rashid touched on the file of the displaced in Iraq, pointing out that their situation requires serious and quick work to end this file, and this requires greater efforts by international organizations to help Iraq return the displaced to their areas after rehabilitating them and providing them with a decent life.

They also discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States and expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two friendly countries in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

In turn, Ambassador Greenfield expressed her country’s desire to strengthen joint relations with Iraq, stressing the United States’ keenness to support Iraq in the field of addressing water scarcity and overcoming this crisis, especially by providing expertise to support and improve the issue of water management in Iraq and also through the UNAMI mission in Iraq.

Al-Asadi discusses with the Director of the International Trade Center mechanisms to support the projects of the Ministry of Labor

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, discussed with the Executive Director of the International Trade Center mechanisms to support the Ministry’s projects.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the ministry, with the director of the center and the representative of the center in Iraq, the minister discussed the projects put forward by the ministry and the projects of the trade center in coordination with the ministry, including the savvi project for agriculture and training young people on agricultural grants and small projects.

The meeting also discussed assistance in setting up an effective mechanism to follow up on income-generating loans to be useful in employing young people. The possibility of raising the level of women’s participation in the labor market was also discussed.

The meeting touched on the “House” project, which is building low-cost homes and distributing them to low-income citizens. It is a project in which the International Labor Organization, the United Nations Population Organization and the International Trade Center participate in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Construction and Housing. The director of the center expressed their willingness to support this important project.

It was agreed to hold meetings in Iraq in order to discuss the projects of the Ministry of Labor, especially the professions platform project to support job seekers, which the ministry recently launched.

LMRA conducts two joint inspection campaigns in Muharraq and Southern governorates

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted two joint inspection campaigns in the Muharraq Governorate and the Southern Governorate on several shops and work sites.

The campaigns resulted in reporting violations related to the Labour Market and Residency laws. The cases were referred for legal action.

LMRA noted that a joint inspection campaign was conducted in the Muharraq Governorate in coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the Governorate’s respective Police Directorate. The other inspection campaign was undertaken in the Southern Governorate in coordination with the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Evidence of the Ministry of Interior.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority renewed its call on all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal labour practices, by reporting violations via the electronic form on the authority’s website www.lmra.gov.bh or by calling the authority’s call centre on 17506055
