The new NATO Mission Commander affirmed the Coalition’s continued support for Iraq, with regard to advice, training and information.

A statement by the National Security Adviser said, the National Security Adviser, “Qasim Al-Araji, received in his office today, Saturday, the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq, Giovanni Maria Antonio, on the occasion of the end of his duties, in the presence of the new Commander of the mission, Lieutenant General Jose Antonio Oero.”

The statement stressed, “Al-Araji thanked, on behalf of the Iraqi government, the former Commander of the mission for his efforts, expressing his happiness at receiving the new Commander, stressing the importance of continuing the relationship with the NATO mission, and working with the Ministries of Defense and Interior.”

He made it clear that the relationship with NATO is a strategic matter for the Iraqi government, and is not directed against anyone.

For his part, the former Commander of the mission in Iraq indicated that the stability of Iraq is the stability of the region, indicating that the success of the work of the NATO mission is a success for Iraq.
