Amman: Lower House Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi met on Monday with Omar Al-Ghul, head of the Palestinian-Arab Brotherhood Committee in the Palestinian National Council (PNC), and an accompanying delegation. The delegation included committee members Omran Al-Khatib, Fawzi Al-Samhouri, and Rasem Al-Khatib, alongside PNC Director General Khaled Ayyad.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Qadi affirmed that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will steadfastly uphold its historical duty to defend the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that the Kingdom spares no effort in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people. The meeting, attended by the head of the House's Palestine Committee, MP Suleiman Al Soud, as well as MPs Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh and Abdul Rahman Al-Awaysheh, underscored Jordan's firm stance backing the two-state solution as the sole guarantee for establishing an independent Palestinian state on its national soil.
For their part, the Palestinian delegates highly valued Jordan's unwavering positions, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in championing Palestinian rights across international arenas. They emphasized the vital importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem while rejecting ongoing violations and forced displacement schemes.
The delegation also voiced categorical rejection of Israeli policies, particularly settlement expansion and incursions in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning of the severe threats these actions pose to the historical and legal status quo. They stressed the critical need to protect international organizations serving Palestinians, foremost among them the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Meanwhile, MPs Al Soud, Al-Tarawneh, and Al-Awaysheh emphasized the importance of boosting cooperation and coordination between the Jordanian Lower House and the PNC within regional and international parliamentary forums. They reiterated that Jordan's continuous delivery of humanitarian aid reflects an unbreakable commitment to the Palestinian people.
