/ 10/ migrants die in sinking boat in English Channel

Ten people were killed while trying to cross the English Channel to reach England after their boat was wrecked. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin confirmed in press statements that the boat carrying migrants capsized while crossing the Channel to England, noting that two other people are missing. Darmanin added that "all government services have been mobilized to find the missing and care for the victims." This incident is among the deadliest in the English Channel since the beginning of this year, after the last one in which 25 people drowned, and in light of the increasing number of migrants seeking to reach England by crossing the Channel in dilapidated boats, after the French authorities imposed more security measures in the port of Calais and the Channel Tunnel.
