Minister of Interior discusses with the Director of the Mine Action Program at the UN Mine Action Service in Iraq enhancing coordination and joint cooperation


Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed with the Director of the Mine Action Program at the United Nations Mine Action Service in Iraq, Per Lodhammar, the importance of coordination in the field of training and qualification in the field of mine action.

The meeting discussed, according to the ministry’s statement, cooperation with the General Directorate of Explosives Control in the Ministry of Interior.

The two sides stressed the diligent work to prevent casualties due to mines, especially in desert, agricultural and remote areas.

Bahrain hosts forum on tolerance in education

Manama, Bahrain hosted a forum on promoting tolerance and acceptance in educational institutions, organised by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council (HEC), Dr. Mohammed Mutair Al Sharija, Director of the Gulf Arab States Educational Research Centre (GASERC), along with ministry officials, experts, and specialists from member states in curriculum development and social studies.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of Education praised the initiatives of ABEGS and stressed the significance of the forum in highlighting the need to transform educational institutions into spaces of tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue. He underscored the importance of regularly reviewing curricula to incorporate human values, foster critical thinking, and promote acceptance while rejecting intolerance, all within the framework of respecting
Arab and Islamic identity and Gulf cultural values.

Al Sharija expressed his appreciation for Bahrain’s support noting that the forum introduced participants to a guide developed by ABEGS aimed at raising awareness of tolerance and acceptance in schools. The forum also discussed how to apply the guide in education and the role of media in promoting these values.

The forum featured three sessions: Dharar Belhoul Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, discussed the role of media in spreading tolerance and acceptance; Dr. Moza Al Doy, Associate Professor at the University of Bahrain, focused on how these values contribute to social peace and coexistence; and Dr. Mohammed Hussain Al Sayed, Executive Director of the Salam Project in Saudi Arabia, explored strategies for promoting tolerance among school students. A discussion followed with experts and participants.

Egyptian, Russian culture ministers probe boosting co-operation


Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hano on Sunday 15/9/2024 wrapped up his official visit to the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, where he met his Russian counterpart for talks on promoting cultural and digital cooperation between the two countries.

The talks between the Egyptian and Russian culture ministers took up exchanging know-how in the spheres of opera, ballet and art museums.

The two sides exchanged souvenirs, with minister Hano eager to present gifts reflecting the iconic Egyptian civilization, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Culture on Sunday.

During his Saint Petersburg, Hano took part in the ninth BRICS Culture Ministers Meeting and the 10th Saint Petersburg International United Cultures Forum.

The BRICS Culture Minister’s Meeting tackled ways of boosting culture cooperation among Member States along with exchanging expertise in cultural heritage preserving and supporting cultural creativity.

FM, Georgian counterpart discuss bilateral ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met Sunday with Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.

The two ministers affirmed their commitment to exploring broader opportunities for cooperation in economic, trade, cultural, and investment fields.

They emphasized the need to capitalize on opportunities to increase tourism exchange, which is expected to expand significantly with the upcoming opening of the Georgian Cultural Center in the Baptism Site area, whose construction is expected to begin before the end of this year.

Safadi and Darchiashvili also discussed regional and international situations, particularly efforts to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza and end the resulting humanitarian catastrophe.

Safadi stressed that stopping the aggression on Gaza and the escalation against the Palestinian people and their Islamic and Christian holy site
s in occupied Jerusalem is the first step to preventing the region from sliding into a regional war.

The two ministers also discussed efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and its regional and international repercussions.

They underscored the importance of respecting and applying international law under a unified standard to safeguard the international system and multilateral work.

The ministers agreed to hold a round of political consultations soon to identify cooperation priorities between the two countries.

Jordan’s tourism revenue at $4.957bln in 1st 8 months 2024

The Kingdom’s tourism revenue dropped during the first 8 months of this year to $4.957 billion, marking a decrease of 3.7%, compared to the same period last year, driven by a 6.7% decline in the number of tourists.

According to official data, tourism revenue generated from Jordanian expatriates soared by 5.8% and Arabs by 11.5%, while tourism income made from European, American and other nationalities went down by 53.9%, 39.1% and 20.1%, respectively.

Defence min. inspects Mohamed Naguib Military Base

Egyptian Minister of Defence, Military Production and General Commander of the Armed Forces Abdel Meguid Saqr on Sunday inspected the Mohamed Naguib Military Base, in the presence of Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa and a galaxy of brass commanders.

The inspection tour falls within the framework of keenness of the general command of the Armed Forces on maintaining field follow up on the formations and units of the army.

Saqr was briefed by Commander of the Northern Military Zone Maj. Gen. Hisham Hosny on Mohamed Naguib Military Base which is deemed one of Egypt’s key military fortresses.

The tour of the defence minister included inspecting the training fields and the electronic tactical shooting complex, which is equipped with state-of-the-art systems to host military drills and transfer expertise with friendly and sisterly nations.

He also inspected the residential facilities dedicated to delegations of countries taking part in the military exercises.

ed greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to fighters of the Northern Military Zone as well as the president’s greetings on the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

Mohamed Naguib Military Base is located in the city of Hammam, Marsa Matrouh Governorate. It was constructed on an area of ??18,000 feddans.

It is the successor to the military city in the Hammam region, which was established in 1993. It includes 1155 buildings and facilities.

SCH Chairman opens ‘Able’ sickle cell conference

Manama, Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), opened the ‘Able’ conference for sickle cell patients on 12 September 2024 at the Gulf Hotel.

Zakaria Ibrahim Al Kadhim, Secretary General of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), highlighted that the conference supports the leadership’s vision under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and government efforts led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted Bahrain’s position as a centre for major medical conferences, which reflects progress in the medical field.

Conference chair Manahil Mansoor noted the event featured scientific studies on the history of SCD, its challenges, and recent treatments. Key participants included Dr. Salam Salim Al Kindi from Oman and Dr. Fatima Malallah, Head of the Genetic Blood Disorders Centre, who presented on acute chest syndrome, one of the most severe complications of the di
sease. Dr. Jaffar Al Took, a genetic blood disorder specialist, discussed pain management and the latest treatments in Bahrain and internationally.

The conference featured testimonies from patients and broad participation from medical and nursing professionals and students. Several patients aged between 65 and 90 were honoured, symbolising Bahrain’s success in managing SCD, with life expectancy now raised to 65 years.

Syria.. 4 people killed in Raqqa in an American airdrop operation


The Syrian “Sham FM” radio announced the killing of 4 people in an airdrop operation carried out by American forces in the northern countryside of Raqqa Governorate.

The radio reported: “In the eastern region, four people were killed and a woman was injured, in an airdrop operation carried out by the American occupation forces in the village of (Shanina) in the northern countryside of Raqqa.”

According to the radio, “During the landing carried out by American forces from one of the helicopters in the village of Shanina, heavy fire was opened on residential buildings and outbuildings, and as a result, at least four local residents were killed, and a woman was injured.

345 days of war on Palestine

Gaza – Ma’an – Israeli aircraft continued their bombing of various areas of the Gaza Strip on the 345th day of the war, leaving a large number of martyrs and wounded.

The Israeli occupation committed four massacres against families in the Gaza Strip during the past 48 hours, of which 64 martyrs and 155 wounded arrived at hospitals.

The death toll from the Israeli aggression rose to 4,1182 martyrs and 95,280 wounded since October 7.

The occupation army continues to destroy the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which it began invading on May 7.

Several explosions were heard during the 24 hours resulting from the destruction of homes near the Al-Awda roundabout in the center of the city, in the Al-Janina neighborhood to the east, and in the Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood to the west of Rafah.

Journalist Abdullah Shakshak was also martyred while trying to reach his home near the Kuwaiti Hospital in central Rafah.

Several wounded were transferred to the hospital as a result of targeting the tents of the
displaced in the southern Gaza Strip.

Gaza and the North

The occupation aircraft launched a series of air strikes on Gaza City, which led to the martyrdom of about twenty citizens.

Five citizens were killed and others were injured when the occupation forces bombed the “Zeitoun Martyrs School”, which houses displaced people near the Al-Shafi’i Mosque in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza.

One martyr was killed and several others were injured when the occupation forces targeted an apartment belonging to the Sweidan family in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip. In

the central Gaza Strip,

three others were killed and others were injured, including serious injuries, when an Israeli bombardment hit a house belonging to the “Imad” family near the Abu Sarar roundabout in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Two citizens were killed when a house and a mosque were bombed in the Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip.

TRC Receives 4,000 Complaints in H1 of 2024

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) received around 4,000 complaints related to telecommunications and postal services from the beginning of this year until the end of June, with a resolution rate of 92%.

According to a statement from the commission on Sunday, the number of complaints related to internet services amounted to 2,511, complaints about mobile phone services reached 1,437, complaints about landline services were 37, and postal service complaints were 22.

It Is worth noting that the commission, through its Beneficiary Affairs Section, receives and follows up on complaints either in person, through the toll-free number dedicated to complaints (117000), via email (COMPLAINTSandENQUIRIES@TRC.GOV.JO), the commission’s Facebook page, the “X” platform, and the commission’s website, which is directly connected to the automated complaint receiving and tracking system.
