Amman: Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah has instructed the director of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Department to honor 117 inmates who successfully passed this year's General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) examination. Al-Maaytah emphasized the PSD's commitment to a comprehensive rehabilitation approach that aids inmates in continuing their lives normally both during and after their time in correctional and rehabilitation centers.
According to Jordan News Agency, the success of the 117 inmates, including one who achieved a grade average of 92.15%, highlights the effectiveness of the educational rehabilitation plans and programs tailored for inmates aspiring to further their studies. These initiatives are designed to facilitate inmates' educational pursuits while serving their sentences and to assist in their societal reintegration upon release.
Al-Maaytah expressed his gratitude towards the staff of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Department for their dedication to implementing rehabilitation policies, particularly the educational programs. The success of these programs is evident in the number of inmates who passed this year's examination, showcasing the department's commitment to inmate education.
He also emphasized the importance of developing new strategies to support successful inmates in continuing their education and pursuing additional academic and vocational training in collaboration with relevant authorities. The pass rate among inmates this year was the highest since the inception of Tawjihi examinations within correctional centers, with 117 out of 231 inmates passing, resulting in a 56% success rate.
