Mafraq: 13 restoration projects are scheduled to be implemented in several archaeological sites in the northern Mafraq governorate, its antiquities directorate announced on Wednesday. According to Jordan News Agency, the directorate's head, Imad Obeidat, stated that the initiative aims to maintain and restore the archaeological destinations in Mafraq's areas of Ri??b, Umm al-Jimal, Sama al-Sarhan, and the Islamic Qasr Burqu in Ruwaished District. The Mafraq Governorate Council has allocated JD585,000 from its budget for the current year to support these projects. The restoration efforts are expected to provide approximately 300 temporary job opportunities, contributing to the local economy and supporting community involvement in the preservation of their cultural heritage. The initiative underscores the importance of safeguarding historical sites and promoting cultural tourism in the region.
