Karak: Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Ya'rub Qudah announced that 16 investment projects have benefited from a package of incentives in Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah II Development City in Karak, with a total investment value of JD 10.5 million and the creation of approximately 250 job opportunities. Qudah highlighted that these incentives align with His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives to promote sustainable development, generate employment, and enhance the business environment.
According to Jordan News Agency, the introduction of these new projects brings the total number of investments in the city to 48, with combined investments reaching JD 47.3 million and 960 jobs created. Qudah emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to attract investments to industrial cities throughout the Kingdom, especially in Karak, through targeted promotional plans, training programs for job seekers, and facilities that support the goals of the Economic Modernisation Vision.
Qudah also revealed the approval of a new development zone in Ghor Al-Mazra'a for agricultural industries, which will benefit from similar incentives to those offered in Karak Industrial City. The incentive package includes reduced land prices to JD 10 per m² instead of JD 25 for areas exceeding 20 dunums, electricity tariff reductions ranging from 25% to 75% for 10 years under specific conditions, and wage support through the Productive Branches Programme. This programme covers 50% of the minimum wage, plus JD 25 for social security and JD 25 for transport for up to five years.
Additionally, there are container handling discounts of 50% at the Port of Aqaba for goods exported from Al-Hussein Industrial City for a period of 3-5 years. Qudah stated that these new measures aim to attract high value-added industrial investments and create hundreds of new jobs for the residents of Karak and surrounding areas.
