The activities of the 17th Arab Capitals’ Youth Meeting, organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Youth, in cooperation with the Arab League, kicked off on Sunday, under the slogan, “Health and Community Environment,” at Al Hussein Youth City.

The meeting aims to enhance the youth role in making initiatives and encourage their creativity to produce and develop youth initiatives, and create the opportunity to interact and exchange cultural and social experiences from various Arab countries, according to a Ministry of Youth statement.

In a speech at opening ceremony, Minister of Youth, Mohammed Nabulsi, said youth initiatives have a “major” role and priority to be relied upon to advance the youth conditions.

Nabulsi also stressed the event’s importance in providing opportunities for Arab youth to exchange experiences, adding that the “current generation could overcome challenges with their capabilities and positive energies.”

For her part, Arab League representative, Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, said Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers attaches “remarkable” importance to empowering and rehabilitating youth, stemming from the bloc’s belief that youth are “the future of the nation.”

Stressing the event’s importance to help young people harness their potentials to activities that support security and stability, she said discussions are an opportunity to produce ideas to “build and develop the Arab world.”

The 7-day event, which saw participation of 14 Arab countries, includes dialogue sessions and meetings with a number of institutions concerned with youth, health and environmental initiatives, the statement said
