18 Jordanian Trainees Complete Vocational Program with Italy

Amman:The Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) in Jordan has celebrated the graduation of 18 trainees from its first cohort at the Jordanian-Italian Center for Training and Qualification. This initiative is designed to prepare Jordanian workers for job opportunities in Italy.

According to Jordan News Agency, the four-month program included 224 training hours, with 120 hours dedicated to learning the Italian language, 72 hours focused on practical construction skills such as masonry and plastering, and 32 hours on occupational health and safety training.

The trainees successfully completed the A1 level of Italian language proficiency, achieving a 100 percent pass rate in their final exams. Their résumés and professional profiles have been prepared in Italian to aid in employment procedures.

These graduates are expected to proceed with interviews, finalize employment contracts, and arrange their travel plans before potentially starting jobs in Italy.

The graduation ceremony was held under the patronage of Abdulhalim Doujan, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor and Chairman of the VTC Board of Directors. It was attended by Italian Ambassador to Jordan Pier Luigi Zamporlini, VTC Director-General Raafat Sawafeen, Formedil Italy Director Stefano Macale, and representatives from partner institutions.

During the ceremony, Doujan emphasized the importance of aligning vocational training with both domestic and international labor market needs, combining technical skills with language proficiency and occupational health standards.

Ambassador Zamporlini praised the Jordanian-Italian cooperation in vocational training, highlighting the Formedil Academy project as a tool for workforce development and improved employment opportunities. He reaffirmed Italy's commitment to sharing expertise and technology and strengthening ties with the VTC.

Sawafeen outlined the VTC's role in providing necessary training facilities, equipment, and logistical support to prepare Jordanian workers for employment locally and abroad.

Macale noted that the Formedil Jordan Academy focuses on developing skilled workers for Italy's construction sector, incorporating language training and workplace safety to ensure safe and regular labor mobility.

This project is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2025 between the VTC and Formedil Perugia, aiming to train 20 Jordanians annually, linking vocational qualifications with employment opportunities in Italy.

Additionally, the VTC has conducted 20 specialized occupational health and safety training sessions, attended by 205 participants who received international certificates. This initiative is part of broader cooperation between Jordanian and Italian institutions to align vocational training with labor market demands and expand employment opportunities for Jordanians.
