A number of Jewish radical settlers on Tuesday stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Haram Al Sharif compound in occupied East Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses told Petra’s reporter in Ramallah that the extremist settlers carried out the raids from al-Magharebah Gate, under heavy protection of Israeli police and forces.

“The settlers toured the courtyards of the Mosque and performed their Talmudic rituals before they left from Al-Silsila Gate, while Muslim worshipers and al-Murabitun peacefully confronted them chanting Allahu Akbar (God is greater), ” the eyewitnesses added.

Settlement associations called on their supporters to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque, in response to the cancellation of the so-called “flag march” in occupied Jerusalem.

Israeli occupation forces late Monday compelled a Jerusalemite to demolish his own house in Jabal Mukaber, south of occupied east Jerusalem, under the pretext it was not licensed by the municipality, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center said.

On Tuesday, the occupation soldiers stormed the cities of Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Bethlehem as well as a number of neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem, and apprehended 14 citizens claiming that they are “wanted,” the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said in a statement.

Jordanian citizen Abdullah Abu Jaber, who spent over 20 years of imprisonment in the Israeli occupation’s jails, has arrived in Jordan, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez.

Speaking to Petra, Fayez said that Abu Jaber was transferred to the King Hussein Bridge Tuesday morning after final-stage procedures were completed.

Abu Jaber was scheduled to be released last Sunday, but the occupation forces obstructed the process under the pretext that his papers were incomplete.

Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh underlined the importance of boosting the ‘strategic partnership’ with the World Bank to support the government’s efforts in the next phase in many key areas.

This came during a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from the World Bank, including Dean of the Board of Executive Directors, Merza Hasan, World Bank Group (WBG) Vice President for Middle East, Ferid Belhaj, and WBG’s Regional Director of the Mashreq Department, Saroj Kumar Jha.

Jordan, Khasawneh said, is looking to increase cooperation with the WBG to achieve a set of goals related to strengthening social protection, creating job opportunities for Jordanians and moving forward with economic and structural reforms to enhance financial and monetary stability.

The Prime Minister indicated that the government’s efforts during the next stage are focused on achieving the necessary economic recovery and overcoming the economic challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two sides to stimulate investment and support partnership projects between the public and private sectors through the WBG’s International Finance Corporation.

Hasan pointed to the partnership relations between the Bank and Jordan, pointing out that the Kingdom is the Bank’s ‘largest strategic partner in the Middle East.’

Hasan said the regional visit, which comes more than a year after the pandemic began, aims at discovering ways to provide support and assistance to countries to overcome the repercussions of the pandemic, adding that the region needs to create millions of job opportunities for young people, which is one of the biggest existing challenges that must be resolved.

Belhaj underscored the importance of enhancing Jordan’s ability to attract investments in light of the great regional competition to solve the issues of poverty and unemployment.

He also underlined the World Bank’s commitment to provide further financial assistance to enable Jordan to face the existing economic challenges.

The National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) denied reports on social media that today Tuesday was designated to get the COVID-19 jab without an appointment and that working hours have been extended for that purpose.

The NCSCM Crisis Cell said in a statement that it planned to extend working hours at some centres for those who have registered on the national immunization platform and got an appointment through an SMS message.

Only those who got text messages will be vaccinated, it said, calling on those who are unregistered not to call on vaccination centres to prevent overcrowding, which helps to spread the pandemic.

Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat Tuesday discussed with South Korean Ambassador Lee Jae-wan ways of enhancing cooperation in parliamentary and other fields.

Oddat spoke of the importance of cementing economic and investment relations between Jordan and South Korea, noting the “exemplary partnership and close bilateral cooperation over the years.”

The envoy valued Jordan’s role toward refugees and the continued efforts of the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to bring about peace in the Middle East region.
