COVID kills 14 in Jordan, positive tests at 3.4 percent

COVID-19 killed 14 in Jordan in the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 10,491 and a total of 1,002 cases were recorded, pushing the caseload to some 803,351, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The MoH said in a press statement Tuesday that 3.4 percent of the 28,890 tests conducted today came back positive.

It said 71 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 80 others were admitted, as the total number of COVID-19 patients receiving medical treatment in hospitals hit 540.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom hovers around 11,885, it added.

Some 780,975 COVID-19 patients, including patients who had been self-isolating, have fully recovered so far.

Planning Minister to attend Egypt development finance forum

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh will participate in the Egypt Forum for International Cooperation and Development Finance “Egypt-ICF”, which will convene in its first edition tomorrow in Cairo.

The two-day gathering, organised by the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, will draw high-level participation at the local, regional and international levels, according to a ministry press release.

The forum, which combines in-person and virtual participation, will feature five panel discussions and seven workshops to address challenges facing global post-Covid development efforts and the importance of development financing in strengthening these efforts, it said.

The statement said the meeting will also tackle the prospective role of the private sector in supporting global development endeavors, multilateral partnerships in post-pandemic reconstruction efforts, and the importance of boosting international financing mechanisms to align with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
