AVANA Companies Expands Global Reach with New Services in Saudi Arabia

Lending and investment company recently named to Inc. 5000 List of Fastest Growing American Companies

AVANA Companies has had its GCC regional headquarters in Bahrain for the last 13 years with additional offices in India and the Philippines. The company recently added five new staff members and has leased additional office space in Bahrain with plans to hire at least 12 new people between Bahrain and KSA in the next 6-12 months.

‫يعلن معهد الولايات المتحدة للسلام عن المرشحين النهائيين للحصول على جائزة النساء بانيات السلام لعام 2021 في اليوم الدولي للسلام

في واشنطن بتاريخ 22 سبتمبر 2021 / بي آر نيوزواير/ – يفخر معهد الولايات المتحدة للسلام بإعلان المرشحين النهائيين لجائزة النساء بانيات السلام لعام 2021 في اليوم الدولي للسلام.

تُمنح الجائزة العالمية المرموقة المُشار إليها كل عام إلى امرأة بانية للسلام قدمت مساهمة كبيرة للسلام في بلدها.

هذا العام، تلقى معهد الولايات المتحدة للسلام ترشيحات من أكثر من 30 دولة.

بدأت بورصة برمودا في نشر بيانات سوق أسهم شركة مياكس بيرل على شبكة بايث

BEIJING, Sept. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which this year is September 21. China Media Group’s (CMG) 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala was broadcast overseas for the first time on Tuesday night, starting at 8:00 p.m. (BJT).

The audiovisual feast was held at Xingyue Lake Wetland Park in Xichang, capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The location was picked to pay tribute to those who have contributed to China’s aerospace industry as the city is also home to the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.

The event also showcased the culture and customs of China’s Yi ethnic people.

A “China-chic-style” music band, Zide Guqin Studio – which has become a hit on Chinese social media for playing traditional Chinese musical instruments in a new way – performed the classic song “Wishing We Last Forever” with actors Liu Shishi and Jing Boran. Celebrated Peking Opera performers Wang Peiyu and Zheng Qiyuan sang “Great Beauty” together as part of the celebration.

As the gala progressed, the audience was treated to a combination of pop music and traditional Chinese culture, including a symphony in the style of the Yi ethnic people. Viewers from all around the world were shown the beautiful natural scenery of Liangshan and the cultural landscape of the Yi ethnic people, whose folk songs are passed down through generations and reflect both the old and new Yi spirit.

CMG hosts Kang Hui, Sa Beining and others also brought a wonderful performance titled “The Ordinary Road.”

Besides the singers and actors, the gala also invited some special guests. Among them are the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games women’s quadruple sculls rowing champions Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lv Yang, and Cui Xiaotong and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics speed skating champion Zhang Hong, who sang “Running to You with All My Heart.”

Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lyu Yang, and Cui Xiaotong won the gold medal in the rowing women’s quadruple sculls final on July 28, 2021, paddling their way to victory with 6:05.13 ahead of Team Poland (6:11.36) and Team Australia (6:12.08), who finished second and third, respectively, at the Sea Forest Waterway in Tokyo Bay.

The appearance of The Chinese Olympic athletes reminded people of the day they won the gold medal, taking the atmosphere of the evening party to new heights. The presence of 2014 Winter Olympics speed skating champion Zhang Hong also reminded people that the 2022 Winter Olympics is just around the corner.

As the evening drew to a close, Zhou Shen, a Chinese singer with a beautiful voice, serenaded the audience. Zhou is best known for his song “Big Fish.” The song has been covered many times by singers at home and abroad. In CMG’s Music Voyage program, which launched earlier this year, British singer Katie Sky, known for her hit song “Monsters,” sent her greetings to Chinese music lovers virtually and shared her cover of Zhou Shen’s “Big Fish” during the music festival.

Xichang has always been an important base of China’s space industry. With the successful mission of Shenzhou-12, China’s space industry has opened a new chapter. During the gala, the three Chinese astronauts, or taikonauts, Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo, also sent their blessing to the audience through video.

Zhou sang a song about space and the stars, paying tribute to industry heroes.

The gala, themed on reunion, technology, Chinese elements and culture, ended with creative song and dance performances. Advanced technologies, such as augmented reality, were used to create an immersive experience for viewers. Meanwhile, virtual reality and artificial intelligence were employed to bring a visual feast to the audience.

Jordan is taking serious steps toward economic reform, green growth, says EBRD official, 2nd, final add

“We have in total invested 1.5 billion euros since we started operating in Jordan less than 10 years ago and but we hope to really increase our investments over the next years,” Harmgart announced. “We signed $50 million financing with the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance, which is for trade facilitation, thus helping Jordan and importers and exporters to access a large network of issuing and correspondence banks globally. It is also directed to on-lending to small and medium enterprises.”

The EBRD, which was established in 1991 and is headquartered in London, has invested in over 38 projects in the sectors of renewable energy, pharmaceutical industries, water and sewage, solid waste, financial institutions and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Jordan.

Jordan became a member of the EBRD in 2011, and the bank opened a permanent office in Amman in 2013, to manage its operations in the kingdom.

The number of EBRD member states is currently 66 countries from 5 continents, and the European Union and the European Investment Bank are major shareholders.

A senior official at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said the EBRD started to provide Jordan with an emergency package as early as spring last year to mitigate COVID pandemic impacts on the national economy.

Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region at the EBRD, Heike Harmgart, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the EBRD will continue helping Jordan’s private sector to be more flexible in terms of restructuring the loans to give it more time to pay back.

“We have started a vital infrastructure support facility, which is also a COVID response facility for infrastructure, such as extending some emergency funding for the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to maintain its working capital. We also continue to look at what we can do to help the greater Amman municipality, to help the transport sector through the crisis,” Harmgart said.

Harmgart, who is currently visiting Amman, accompanied by an EBRD team, said the visit focuses on supporting Jordan’s economic recovery efforts and working with different sectors of the Jordanian economy to come out of the crisis.

“We’re talking to local banks to help them with green financing for small and medium enterprises,” Harmgart added. “We’re talking, to the Greater Amman Municipality, NEPCO, to the energy sector to see what we can do on the infrastructure to support more green investments, including desalination, energy efficiency, solar and wind energy.”

“We also stand ready to support many dimensions for Jordan, including the green economy and women’s empowerment, which were focused on during the work team’s meetings with some Jordanian banks recently,” Harmgart noted.

She explained that the real focus of this visit is on helping Jordan become more energy efficient through investing in the green economy, which is a “is a win-win deal”, especially in reducing production costs on companies, helping the state to provide water and electricity, and also ensuring that citizens have access to affordable electricity through solar, wind and water technology.

She added that the EBRD works in partnership with the public and private sectors; the private sector accounts for about 75% of the bank’s business, while the public sector’s share of the bank’s plan is limited to about 25% with the government.

She explained that the EBRD is working on several projects with the Greater Amman Municipality, including waste management, energy, urban transport, electric buses, green lighting to help it become more energy efficient.

“One area that we also believe is really an opportunity for Jordan is supporting female entrepreneurs. We are working with Jordanian banks to support female entrepreneurs and businesses,” the EBRD official added. “Another area which we also touched upon this visit is digitalization by supporting their FinTech projects, including e-payments, e-wallets, etc. So that’s also an area where we will, throughout this year, do more projects and financial technology.”

Regarding business-doing in Jordan, Harmgart said that one of the key improvements was around reforming the banking sector regulation to make sure access credit becomes easier and the serious attempts to attract investment, which ensures easing conditions for new companies and new investors to register and obtain licenses.

In the energy sector, Harmgart said the EBRD have already done quite significant projects in the solar energy field in the first and second rounds, plus the financing with NEPCO on the transmission network. “However, desalination is the next biggest project, which addresses one of the key challenges for Jordan,” she added. “What we want to do there is really make sure that the energy that’s needed to desalinate water in Aqaba and pumping elsewhere is renewable energy, such as solar and wind rather than non-renewable sources.”

ASE ends daily trading higher

The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) closed Wednesday’s trading session up by 0.69 percent at 2,067 points.

A total of 3.6 million shares were traded through 2,510 transactions at a trading value of JD4.3 million.

The closing prices of 37 companies with traded shares went up, while 24 others declined. The prices of the shares of 31 others remained unchanged.
