Mercury levels on Thursday is forecast to dip few degrees, bringing moderate and spring-like weather in the highlands and the plains, and relatively hot conditions in the Badia areas, while it will be hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

On Friday, a further dip in temperatures is expected, becoming around annual average, so it will be fair in the hilly areas and the plains, and relatively hot in other parts of the Kingdom, with northwesterly moderate to active winds, the JMD added.

Toward Saturday, mercury will rise again, making hot conditions in much areas of the country, except in the heights and the plains where it will be moderate, the JMD noted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom will range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius on Thursday, dropping at night to 17C or even to 13C in the southern highlands.

In the gulf city of Aqaba, it will be hotter with mercury reaching a high of 38C and a low of 23C.

Israeli occupation police decided to close the Damascus Gate, the Bab Al-Wad Road and a number of streets in the old city of occupied Jerusalem next Sunday, under the pretext of securing the marches of extremist Jewish settlers.

The Israeli public radio on Thursday quoted the occupation police saying that the areas of Damascus Gate and the Bab al-Wad Road will be used by Jews in their annual “flag march”, organized by extremist settlers.

President of the Yarmouk University, Nabil Hailat, late Wednesday discussed with the cultural advisor at the Yemeni cultural attache in Amman, Qibla Muhammad Saeed, ways to enhance scientific, academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, Hailat stressed the university’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Yemini side in various domains, and to receive further Yemeni students from different degrees and academic specialties.

He added that Yarmouk seeks to activate student exchange programs, visits of faculty members with various Arab and international universities, support research projects and encourage the attraction of international schemes that benefit the university and society.

The Yemeni cultural advisor praised the scientific reputation that Yarmouk enjoys in various scientific fields, indicating the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two sides, especially in light of the difficult circumstances the world is witnessing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Public Security Department and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), on Thursday, signed an agreement to establish a tourism and environment office in the Burqa’ Reserve to serve biological diversity protection programs and to implement inspection programs in the area.

The agreement was signed by the PSD’s Assistant Director of Management and Logistical Support, Brig. Gen. Mutasim Abu Shatal, and the RSCN’s Chairman, Khalid al-Irani.

The office will protect the biological diversity in the Burqa’ reserve, a falcon training reserve located 200 km east of Amman. This agreement is an extension of a memorandum of understanding signed recently between the department and the RSCN, which aimed at boosting cooperation to protect the environment and wild species.

A Royal Decree has been issued, appointing Jafar Hassan as Director of the Office of His Majesty, as of 6 May 2021.

Another Royal Decree was issued, accepting the resignation of Haifa Khraisha from her position as Adviser to His Majesty for Policies, as of 6 May 2021.

A third Royal Decree was issued, accepting the resignation of Kemal Al Nasser from his position as Adviser to His Majesty, as of 6 May 2021.

A fourth Royal Decree was issued, accepting the resignation of Zeina Toukan from her position as Adviser for Economic Affairs at the Royal Hashemite Court, as of 6 May 2021.
