Army chief stresses importance of military media

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti stressed the importance of the military media in highlighting the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF)’s role at military, security, development and humanitarian levels locally and internationally.

Huneiti gave his remarks in a visit to the Military Media Directorate at the JAF General Command, where he was received by its Director, Colonel Mustafa Abdel Halim Al-Hiyari.

Huneiti was briefed by Colonel Al-Hiyari on the military media’s strategy and message, which aim at raising the morale of JAF personnel and reflecting a positive image through its divisions and units, in addition to the streams and mechanism of implementing the media strategy.

The army chief said JAF seeks to promote its media message and keep abreast with developments in the media outlets and social media locally and internationally, to reflect a positive image of JAF and highlight its active role in various fields.

Crown Prince visits Jordan TV on its 54th anniversary

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Tuesday visited the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTC), on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the establishment of Jordan Television.

During the visit, Crown Prince Al Hussein congratulated JRTC staff, commending their efforts and professionalism.

Touring the Jordan Television premises, His Royal Highness highlighted the need to keep up with digital media trends, diversify content, and reduce focus on traditional topics, stressing the important role of Jordan Television in spreading positive messages and providing correct information.

The Crown Prince listened to a briefing from JRTC Chairman Ghaith Tarawneh and JRTC Director General Mohammad Balqar, attended by Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul, on future plans for developing the corporation, and expanding its reach to all segments of society.

His Royal Highness was also briefed on plans for building the JRTC’s capacities in digital media.

Culture Minister meets Italian envoy

Minister of Culture, Haifa Najjar, met Tuesday with Italy’s Ambassador to Jordan, Luciano Bizzotti, for a discussion on ways to develop cultural relations between the two countries.

Najjar said that this meeting discussed ways to activate cultural ties between the two countries, which have a lot in common, such as culture, values and history.

“We seek to create a balance between culture and tourism to present Jordan culturally through its distinguished tourist sites, with a holistic and integrative concept based on real and effective partnerships. Furthermore Jordan, which is located in the heart of the world, adopts pluralism, openness, dialogue, diversity and respect for the other, and invests in young people to build a promising future under the leadership of the Hashemites and their leader, His Majesty King Abdullah II,” a ministry statement cited Najjar as saying.

She reaffirmed the Ministry of Culture’s keenness to continue strengthening the long-term cultural relations between Jordan and Italy, extending an invitation to the ambassador to participate in the Jerash Festival.

For his part, the Italian envoy laude ties between the two countries, stressing his government’s keenness for more cooperation and exchange of expertise in the cultural field.

The meeting also covered the Minister of Culture’s participation agenda of in the Naples Conference of the Ministers of Culture of the Euro-Mediterranean Region – The First Culture Ministerial Meeting of the EU-Southern Partnership, which will be held in June 16 and 17, which will discuss ways to safeguard, promote and appreciate the valuable culture, heritage, and landscapes of the Euro-Mediterranean region and provides a platform for joint conversations on key relevant topics at the international level and cultural diplomacy.

The first cultural agreement between the governments of Jordan and Italy was signed in 1975, then several executive programs were signed, the last of which was the executive program for cultural and scientific cooperation between the two sides for the years 1997-1999 on July 1, 1997 in Amman, and the cultural, scientific and technological cooperation agreement between the two governments on September 23, 1999.
