For his part, Takeshi said OECD seeks to support Jordan in its plans for economic recovery by boosting investments in the sensitive post-Covid-19 pandemic period, in light of of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which powered confidence in recovery from Covid-19 impacts.

The document also stresses the need to review FDI qualities in Jordan and find ways to support this investment in achieving development goals, especially in relation to to the four development dimensions: Productivity and innovation, Skills Development, Gender Equality, Carbon Emission Reduction, the EU official pointed out.

Jordan Strategy Forum’s CEO, Nesreen Barakat, said Jordan’s sustainability programs were a “major” pillar of Economic Modernization Vision, which focus on activating the Kingdom’s pursuit for sustainable development goals and complying with the global policies to achieve a green future.

These programs also seek to stimulate investments in Jordan’s sustainable projects and support investments in the most environmentally friendly projects, in addition to providing decent and sustainable jobs for young people, Barakat added.

His Majesty King Abdullah and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Wednesday bid farewell to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the deputy prime minister and minister of defence of Saudi Arabia, who concluded a two-day official visit to Jordan.

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, and a number of ministers and senior officials were also present to bid farewell to the Saudi crown prince, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation.

King Abdullah and Crown Prince Mohammed had held talks on Tuesday that covered the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and ways to expand cooperation, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) discussed the mechanisms to increase volume of Jordanian exports to the United States and the logistical difficulties in this regard, in light of the current high sea freight costs globally and the lack of express courier companies operating to and from Aqaba port.

An AmCham statement issued Wednesday, the session comes within a series of dialogues, chaired by the chamber’s president, Samer Judeh, representatives of Jordan’s private sector and US embassy.

The participants agreed that the port of Aqaba would be the “key” option for serving exports and imports to Jordan, in light of estimates on a rise of the Kingdom’s exports volume to the United States in the coming years, the statement said.

“Delay in working as a team will not be in the interest of Jordanian exports, which would lose their competitive value, if Jordanian government didn’t take a decision, in collaboration with Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) and Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), to cooperate with global shipping companies,” the participants warned.
