Jordan votes in favour of UN resolution calling end to US blockade of Cuba

Jordan Thursday voted in favour of a UN General Assembly draft resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the U.S. on Cuba.

A total of 185 countries voted in favour of the resolution. The U.S. and Israel voted against the draft resolution, while both Brazil and Ukraine abstained. 4 countries were absent from the voting session.

JTB, BDC ink MoU to promote voluntary tourism efforts

Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and Business Development Center (BDC) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch a voluntary tourism program, in the presence of JTB’s Director General, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, and BDC’s Director, Ghaleb Hijazi.

According to a JTB statement, the MoU was inked, based on the the two sides’ understanding to launch a program aimed to attract tourists from countries across the world, especially from Europe and the United States, and provide voluntary tourism work in Jordan to raise eco-tourism awareness.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Arabiyat said: “discussions went over the issue of developing and promoting the voluntary tourism product in the Kingdom by preparing, publishing and distributing related studies to all stakeholders.”

Development and promotion of the voluntary tourism product was also discussed by outlining publications and paper or online advertising materials to highlight the MoU’s purposes, he noted.

Under the MoU, he noted coordination will be made to host various press delegations and concerned parties to visit Jordan to get acquainted with Jordan’s voluntary tourism product.

Pleasant weather forecast over weekend

Pleasant weather conditions are forecast to prevail countrywide on Thursday, as temperatures come to their seasonal average for this time of the year, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

Clouds will appear at low altitudes, and winds will be northwesterly moderate.

Similar weather conditions will persist during the weekend with a slight rise in mercury levels, while winds will be northeasterly to northwesterly moderate.

Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 23 degrees Celsius and a low of 11C, while the port city of Aqaba will see a high of 30C, sliding to 20C at night.

Iranian products exhibition opens in Amman

Director of Al-Hussein Youth City (AYC), Bassam Khalayleh, on Thursday inaugurated activities of the Iranian Products Exhibition, which is currently being held at AYC venues.

The 10-day exhibition, which is organized by the International Promoters Company for Marketing and Exhibitions (IPCO), sees participation of 38 Iranian companies.

IPCO Director General, Raed Abu Saada, said holding international fairs in the Kingdom contributes to Jordan’s tourism promotion and opens business horizons for the commercial sector and business owners.

The exhibition will offer visitors with the opportunity to view Iranian products, including handmade carpets, wood industries, foodstuffs, spices, and accessories, according to an IPCO statement.

The exhibition will open its doors daily from 11am until 9pm , while it will receive visitors on Friday from 2pm until 10pm for direct purchase from the participating companies, the statement added.
