Geekvape held an online technical seminar to explore technology using in the e-cigarette

Geekvape held an online technical seminar “Leap Further” to explore technology used in the e-cigarette

Geekvape held an online technical seminar to explore the technology used in the e-cigarette

Senate President Faisal Fayez and Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi Monday pledged cooperation between the two chambers to pursue “legislative and oversight action” to achieve national goals directed by His Majesty King Abdullah at the opening yesterday of parliament’s second ordinary session.

The King’s speech from the throne, they said, is “a roadmap for our national priorities in the next stage,” adding that there will be no backtracking in the political, economic and administrative reform, development and modernization process.

They urged closer consultation between the two chambers to improve draft legislation passed to parliament, stressing that the speech from the throne put the authorities before their great responsibilities that required cooperative work to achieve complementarity, taking into account the principle of checks and balances defined by the constitution.

Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Board Chairman Mohammad Thneibat said Monday that a set of measures taken by the company were largely behind a “qualitative leap” in its production, sales and profits, which exceeded JD600 million by the end of the third quarter.

He spoke in a meeting with members of the General Trade Union For Workers In Mines and Mining, in the presence of the JPMC CEO and board members and the President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions.

Thanks to the achievements and results it continued to make, the company ranked 82 among the largest, most profitable and valuable companies in the Middle East, as its market value doubled to $4.5 billion, Thneibat told the meeting.

He said that improving work and performance, increasing production, controlling spending, moving to manufacturing industries and finding new markets and partnerships are top of the company’s management’s interests and priorities.

Thneibat attributed the achievements to the cooperation, dedication and team spirit and responsibility of workers in the field, along with measures, including tight spending, cutting mining costs and raising production.

JPMC CEO Abdul Wahab Rawad outlined the company’s current and future plans and projects, including setting up new factories in cooperation with partners from Jordan and outside the Kingdom.

He said the JPMC is carrying out projects and strategic plans towards more results, through concluding deals with new partners and investors to increase its market share, and using world-class methods to improve and diversify production.

Palestinian FM urges int’l intervention to stop Israeli attacks

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Monday called for international intervention to stop escalating Israeli attacks, the latest of which was the killing of a girl today in Beitunia, near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, the ministry condemned the ongoing “violations and crimes by the occupation authority” against the Palestinians, including the demolition of homes and facilities “under false pretexts.”

The escalation by the occupation army and (Jewish) settlers, it said, is an official Israeli policy that will lead to an explosion in the conflict arena as it is used by the Israeli government to circumvent any serious political or negotiating process.

It said Israeli actions only serve its occupation and expansionist and colonialist agenda and the completion of the annexation of the occupied West Bank, which will undermine any chance to set up a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital under the two-state solution.

The ministry held the “occupation state and its various arms fully and directly responsible for this escalation and its repercussions.”

4th SMEs conference kicks off Tuesday

The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) will Tuesday hold the 4th Conference for Small and Medium Enterprises on Tuesday, titled “Employer-Employee Dialogue: Towards Effective Labor Market Policies.”

The event is carried out under the patronage of the minister of Labor and minister of industry, trade, and supply in cooperation with the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU).

In a press release issued on Monday, Fathi Jaghbir, the president of JCI, emphasized the significance of effective labor policies, stating, “As employers, we view labor as a crucial and indispensable component of the production process.”

He explained that the Chamber seeks to effect positive change in labor market policies because they are an important component of national employment strategies and play a significant role in lowering unemployment rates and achieving desired economic growth.

Jaghbir continued, conducting a thorough dialogue between the supply and demand parties (employers and workers) aids in communicating demands to the government to adopt efficient policies that address labor market imbalances.

He noted the JCI and GFJTU held a series of workshops tackling three labor market topics: training and technical education, social dialogue and partnership, and social protection.

Jaghbir voiced hope that the government would adopt the conference’s recommendations and use them as a guide to create efficient labor market regulations that would increase the market’s efficiency.

A labor market unit, one of the chamber’s new arms, will be launched on the sidelines of the conference, with the goal of addressing labor market imbalances, developing labor market policies, meeting the industrial establishments’ need for skilled and trained laborers, and creating job opportunities in decent, appropriate workplaces.
