Queen Rania attends reception by Queen Consort Camilla to combat violence against women and girls

London, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended a reception hosted by Her Majesty Queen Consort Camilla of the United Kingdom to raise awareness of violence against women and girls as part of the UN 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, the reception is considered an important milestone of Queen Consort Camilla’s work in the area. During the reception, Queen Consort Camilla gave a speech on combating violence against women and girls.

At the reception, Queen Rania met with Queen Consort Camilla and a select group of guests, including, The Queen of the Belgians, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada Bio, and a few senior members of the British government.

The reception was attended by royal figures from the UK and Europe, including Her Majesty The Queen of the Belgians, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, and The Countess of Wessex. Also among the guests, were survivors of violence and their families, politicians, representatives of charity organizations working in the field, and ambassadors for the cause, including, Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland KC, among others.

Queen Consort Camilla has worked for years to raise awareness about violence against women, hearing first-hand from survivors, advocating on their behalf, and convening charities and key stakeholders to discuss these issues. Most recently, in Queen Consort Camilla’s first public solo engagement as Queen Consort, she visited Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to highlight their work supporting domestic abuse survivors, in collaboration with the charity SafeLives.

CBJ warns public to dodge online cash investment fraud

Amman, The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) warned the public against dealing with online financial platforms, which allege opportunities to invest money and “unreasonably” double cash within a short period of time.

In a statement, CBJ said its warning aims to avoid exposure to money-making scams and risk of cash loss.

Tourism minister meets with counterparts at Riyadh global travel summit

Riyadh, On the sidelines of the 22nd World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit currently held in Riyadh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Fayez, met with Arab and foreign tourism ministers, sector’s leaders, CEOs of major travel agencies and directors of international airlines.

Speaking at talks held separately with tourism ministers, Fayez discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and relations in the tourism field and increase the volume of tourist exchange between Jordan and those countries.

During the minister’s other series of discussions, Fayez discussed ways to enhance cooperation with travel and tourism agencies to attract tourists and operate flights to the Kingdom.

Fayez stressed that the Kingdom enjoys a “diverse and unique” tourism product, an “attractive” investment environment and “friendly” climate to launch business.

In addition, he noted Jordan has “remarkable” competencies and expertise in the tourism field, whether in the public or private sectors.
