وقعت الشركة للتو اتفاقية ضخمة لتطوير مشاريع Public Access Lagoons، والمعروفة أيضًا باسم مشاريع التطوير PAL، في فلسطين. سيتم بناء أول مجمع من سلسلة المجمعات في أريحا، ةهي أقدم مدينة في العالم، حيث ستقدم الشركة عروضًا لا مثيل لها من الترفيه والأنشطة الترفيهية المائية والحياة الشاطئية للسكان المحليين.
تدخل شركة Crystal Lagoons سوق فلسطين من خلال شراكة مع More Fun Palestine، وهي مجموعة تجارية محلية تعمل على تطوير مشاريع ترفيهية وتعليمية عائلية، تدير العديد من الامتيازات وتعمل مع شركات عامة وخاصة.
سيعطي هذا المشروع الأخير لشركة Crystal Lagoons فرصة أخرى لعرض تقنيتها المستدامة، والتي يمكن أن تستفيد من المياه قليلة الملوحة غير الصالحة للاستخدام في البيئات القاحلة كما فعلت في مصر والإمارات العربية المتحدة والأردن وعمان والمملكة العربية السعودية والبحرين والكويت.
سيكون محور مجمع PAL الجديد عبارة عن بحيرة بلورية تبلغ مساحتها هكتارين وهي مناسبة للسباحة والرياضات المائية وتحيط بها شواطئ رملية بيضاء. المرفق، الذي سيشمل أيضًا مناطق متعددة العائلات، وأنشطة ترفيهية ومسلية، وبنية تحتية تجارية وترفيهية، سيكون مفتوحًا لعامة الناس بمقابل، ومن المتوقع أن يستقبل أكثر من 325000 زائر سنويًا.

وتم اختيار الفرق الفائزة، وهي «Aquagrain» و«Orbisk» و«Revoltech» و«Sustainable Planet»، من بين 12 شركة ناشئة تأهلت للتصفيات النهائية بعد مراجعة 667 طلب مشاركة من 79 دولة حول العالم.
واستعرض أصحاب المشاريع المتأهلة، والذين يمثلون فئات مختلفة من المجتمع حيث ينتمي 33% منهم إلى جيل الشباب ممن تتراوح أعمارهم بين 22 و35 عاماً، حلولهم التكنولوجية المبتكرة خلال أسبوع أبوظبي للاستدامة، مما يسلط الضوء على دور الجيل القادم في تطوير حلول مستدامة للأمن الغذائي.

«Aquagrain»: إعادة تدوير مخلفات الطعام لزراعة الأغذية في التربة الرملية (المملكة المتحدة) تقدّم «Aquagrain» تقنية مبتكرة لتحسين التربة باستخدام النفايات العضوية التي يمكن أن تمتص ما يصل إلى 30 مرة من كتلتها في الماء لتوفير العناصر الغذائية اللازمة للمحاصيل الزراعية مع تقليل الحاجة إلى استخدام الأسمدة غير العضوية.
«Orbisk»: استخدام كاميرات الذكاء الاصطناعي للحد من هدر الطعام في المطاعم بنسبة تصل إلى 70% (هولندا) تركز «Orbisk» جهودها على التقليل من فقد الغذاء وهدره عبر استخدام تقنية التعرف على الصور بالذكاء الاصطناعي والأتمتة لتحديد كمية الأطعمة المهدَرة في المطابخ الاحترافية وتوقّعها، والسعي إلى تقليل هذا الهدر وتحسين الربحية. وتساعد هذه التقنية على خفض مستويات هدر الطعام بما يتراوح بين 50 إلى 70 بالمائة خلال العام الأول من استخدامها.
«Revoltech»: الحفاظ على سلامة الأطعمة لمدة تصل إلى 50 عاماً (الإمارات العربية المتحدة) تستخدم «Revoltech» تقنية تجميد فريدة من نوعها تعمل على تسخير المجالات الكهرومغناطيسية للحد من الأضرار التي تلحق بالأطعمة خلال عملية التبريد. وتساعد هذه التقنية على تجميد الطعام بسرعة أكبر بمرتين مقارنة بالسرعة الاعتيادية، كما تساهم في الحفاظ على سلامة الأطعمة لمدة تصل إلى 50 عاماً.
«Sustainable Planet»: زراعة البروتينات النباتية بدون استخدام مياه عذبة (المملكة المتحدة) أحدثت شركة «Sustainable Planet» ثورة في مجال زراعة عدس الماء، وهو بروتين نباتي يمكن زراعته على أراضٍ غير صالحة للزراعة وفي المياه المالحة، وذلك باستخدام كمية مياه أقل بـ 20 مرة من الكمية المطلوبة للبروتينات المعزولة مثل الصويا. وتهدف الشركة الناشئة إلى المساهمة في خفض واردات البروتين بشكل كبير.

Amman, Jordan’s environment minister and Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) CEO Wednesday held talks in Abu Dhabi on cooperation in environmental protection and waste management and recycling.
The meeting noted the “necessity” of enhancing cooperation and coordination on environmental protection, benefiting from the experiences and competencies of both sides and drumming the efforts by leveraging the latest technologies.
Environment Minister Muawiya Radaydah’s meeting with the Tadweer CEO Nasser Aldueb during a visit to Abu Dhabi to attend the Sustainability Conference that is part of the EcoWaste Exhibition and Forum 2023, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
PM Khasawneh also held a meeting with Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi.
The PM said Jordan welcomes more Emirati investments in the Kingdom, expressing the government’s keenness to follow up on completion of the investment projects implemented by ADQ in Jordan and remove any obstacles that hinder their implementation.
PM presented the key measures taken by Jordan to enhance the investment climate and remove obstacles and challenges facing the investor environment.
In this regard, he pointed to the establishment of the Ministry of Investment and endorsement of Jordan’s new investment environment law, which unified investment references and removed multiple bureaucratic obstacles, which contribute to attracting local and foreign investments and enabling those already launched.
In addition, the PM met with Indian businessman Gautam Adani, Founder and Chairman of the Adani Group, one of the largest international companies.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Finance Mohammad Al-Issis, Khasawneh highlighted Jordan’s “attractive” investment environment, which aims to attract more foreign investments and enable existing ones, welcoming the group’s investments in the major projects that Jordan intends to implement.
PM also expressed Jordan’s readiness to be a regional center for launching the group’s business and investments in the region’s markets.
For his part, Adani affirmed his group’s interest in investing in Jordan in more than one sector, in light of the Kingdom’s available ” promising” investment prospects.
The two sides also agreed during the meeting to exchange visits between Jordanian government officials and the group to discuss available investment opportunities.
Amman, Minister of Finance, Mohamad Al-Ississ, said Jordan is taking “serious” steps to stimulate investment, facilitate the investor transactions and maintain the legislative stability of the investment environment.
In remarks on the sidelines of his participation in World Economic Forum 2023 Davos, he noted Jordan’s delegation participating in the forum, headed by Prime Minister, places the investment file on the top of its priorities by talking with a large number of international investors.
The current situation in which the world is witnessing instability represents a “serious” opportunity to Jordan to attract investments that pursue financial and monetary stability, he noted.
In addition, he said Jordan’s financial stability in light of a global situation in which financial and monetary stability is absent constitutes a “true” opportunity for investments looking for a “good” equation between profit and global economic challenges.
The government, he said, presented a budget that maintains and raises capital spending to stimulate investment activity in the Kingdom while maintaining the government’s commitment to keep taxes unchanged.
He noted economic challenge is global, adding that Jordan’s economy is part of this process.
Stagnation and inflation that the world is witnessing is an opportunity to Jordan, as the Kingdom is one of the few countries in the world to maintain monetary stability, according to testament of major international institutions and houses of financial expertise, he said.
In this regard, he announced the government has allocated JD1.6 billion as capital spending, and will work to reduce the primary deficit from 3.4%, as estimated in 2022, to reach 2.9% in 2023.
Public debt, he said, will also be reduced as a percentage of GDP for the third year in a row, despite the government’s commitment to keep taxes unchanged due to the policy adopted by the government to fight tax evasion to achieve tax justice for citizens and stay away from consumer taxes.
Amman, Jordan’s representative to the UN, Mahmoud Hmoud, and Wednesday said 2022 was amongst the “bloodiest” for Palestinians after the occupied West Bank witnessed an escalation of violence and many were killed by Israeli soldiers, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
During an open session of the UN Security Council, Hmoud said the far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque was a “condemnable and dangerous” development and a push towards conflict, violence and instability.
He added that Israel’s actions push the Middle East towards violence and deprive people of their right to peace.
“Israel continues to provoke the feelings of a billion Muslims by desecrating the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and is pushing for a religious conflict that will have serious consequences for the entire region. It continues to impede access to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Hmoud said, rejecting Israel’s decision to deny the Jordanian envoy to Israel access to the Mosque on Tuesday.
He added, “Israel continues to displace residents from their homes, including in Jerusalem, to change the identity of the city, which constitutes a war crime and a violation of international law,” calling for the international community to pressure Israel to stop violating international law.
Hamoud denounced the “punitive measures” imposed against Palestinians, urging the Security Council to uphold international law and stop illegal Israeli measures in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
He noted that Jordan would continue to support the Palestinians to establish an independent and sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967.
Amman, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its deepest condolences to the government and friendly Ukrainian people over victims of a helicopter crash in Kyiv, which killed and injured a dozen people on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed the Kingdom’s sympathy with the friendly government and Ukrainian people for this painful incident, expressing its condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Amman, Minister of Social Development, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, on Wednesday discussed , with a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France (EF), ways to strengthen joint partnership and cooperation in the social field, and achieve the ministry’s social services priorities in the projects under the agreement scheduled to signed in the future.
Stressing the importance of the “long” partnership with local and foreign community organizations, Bani Mustafa said the ministry’s programs and projects, implemented in cooperation with AFD and EF, will be developed and further directed to serve local community.
Bani Mustafa said the ministry seeks to develop partnership and enhance the positive aspects of the programs implemented in the past to improve social services, boost effectiveness, improve services to the target beneficiaries and programs’ quality, in accordance with national priorities.

On the issue of gender-based violence, Bani Mustafa said focusing on abused women is “not enough,” adding that related programs should be launched in this regard to identify domestic violence causes, noting the importance of focusing on the family to prevent this phenomenon.
For their part, the French delegation referred to their “distinguished” expertise in social protection that was implemented in Jordan, stressing the importance of the new future project with the ministry, which will reflect its priorities and strategy.
The delegation said the new project takes gender into account, helps the ministry in implementing its strategies, promoting gender equality, developing and diversifying services provided to associations based on their needs, launching community development centers, enhancing people with disabilities and the elderly’s access, and providing “distinguished” infrastructure to increase services provided to the beneficiaries.
In addition, the delegation voiced desire to sign a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ministry to frame its work in the coming years.
Amman, Chief Islamic Justice Abdul-Hafiz Al-Rabtah on Wednesday met with Arab Human Rights Committee (AHRC) delegation, headed by Jaber Al-Marri.
During the meeting, Al-Rabtah briefed the delegation on the tasks of Chief Islamic Justice Department and Sharia courts in Jordan and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, referring to their “clear and significant” role in preserving rights, especially rights of women and children.
The department, he noted, has taken multiple measures to protect and promote human rights, whether in terms of developing and updating legislation that governs Sharia courts’ work.
Al-Rabtah highlighted the department’s “remarkable” role related to refugee issues in the Kingdom, by implementing programs aimed to enable refugees obtain their rights and access justice.
In addition, he pointed to the department’s services at Syrian refugee camps, which are provided at Sharia courts’s offices in Za’atari and Azraq camps.
For their part, Al-Marri, and the accompanying delegation lauded the Kingdom’s “positive and effective” position in the human rights system, expressing appreciation for Sharia judiciary’s role in enhancing human rights protection, which achieves “quick” justice and guarantees family-society stability.
Amman, The UK Ambassador to Jordan, Bridget Brind, Wednesday said the UK supports the Hashemite Custodianship of Muslim and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
During a lecture at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College (RJNDC) entitled “British Foreign Policy in the Middle East”, Brind talked about the “strong” ties between Jordan and the UK and London’s support for Jordan.
She explained the UK’s methodology and policy towards Middle East issues amidst international developments, especially the Russian-Ukrainian war and its ramifications on the global economy.
