From the “space elevator” soaring across the earth and sky to the thrilling “air combat,” XCMG equipment journeys from behind the scenes to onstage in the prequel to 2019’s ”The Wandering Earth”, which became one of the highest grossing non-English movies ever. Leveraging its comprehensive product portfolio and solutions in hoisting, earthmoving, road, aerial work, sanitation, safety and emergency rescue, XCMG has provided a wide range of operational and transformable machinery equipment for the UEG (United Earth Government) in the film.

As you’ll see in the film, we achieved ideal results.  These dazzling pieces of ‘equipment of the future’ were not just for cinematic show, they were inspired by our real-life products that are breaking new ground every day,” said Zhang Han, the industrial designer from XCMG.

XCMG provided 61 units of equipment of 42 models, more than 400 sets of spare parts and workshop props and 61 sets of 3D models over the course of film production, from scheduling, painting, equipment to personnel, logistics, to on-site execution and more. A total of 319 XCMG staff worked on the project.

One of the most coveted pieces of equipment from the film is the ET120 walking excavator, also known as the “steel mantis.” Designed for emergency rescue in complex terrain environments and at disaster-stricken sites, the ET120 can “walk” the plateau mountains, woodlands, ravines, swamps and alpine as if it’s on firm earth, while equipped for installing various tools to perform different tasks such as excavation, lifting, logging, fire extinguishing, crushing, grabbing and drilling at altitudes of up to 4,500 meters and temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius.

In addition, the film features dozens of innovative technologies that XCMG has developed for applications in extreme conditions, and over a third of the equipment in the film is unmanned and new energy models, including the AGV.

Israeli authorities declare ‘high alert’ in occupied Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem, The Israeli public radio Saturday reported that the commissioner-general of the Israeli police had raised the level of “high alert” across occupied Jerusalem.

The Hebrew radio confirmed that the Israeli police would increase the shift hours of its personnel and patrols across the city.

Separately, the Israeli army sent an additional battalion to the occupied West Bank for fear of operations and deploying more soldiers at the points of contact and the separation wall.

Jordan house speaker, Qatar Shura deputy speaker talk Hashemite Custodianship in Jerusalem

Algiers, Speaker of the Lower House Ahmad Safadi and the Deputy Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council, Hamda Sulaiti, Saturday held a meeting in Algiers on coordinating parliamentary positions to serve the region’s issues, especially the Palestinian issue.

Safadi said, in the meeting on the sidelines of parliaments of the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) session, that the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem functioned as a “barrier against attempts to Judaize the Holy City.”

He said Jordan takes pride in the level of “distinguished” relations with Qatar and the level of coordination between the leaderships of both countries, whose last meeting was in Doha a few days ago.

In turn, Sulaiti said Qatar supports the “great” Jordanian role in serving the Palestinian cause, noting that the positions of both countries under the leadership of King Abdullah II and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad are committed to defending the “nation’s” issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and the right of Palestinians to realise their national aspirations.

Sulaiti added that the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian sanctities in occupied Jerusalem is a “safety valve and a major line of defence” for the Palestinian cause and the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Arab parliament condemns burning of Quran in Copenhagen

Cairo, The Arab Parliament Saturday condemned the burning of copies of the Quran by extremists in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Parliament Speaker Abdel Assoumi said the recent manifestations of anti-Islam in European capitals contradict “human and moral values and principles.”

He reiterated the Arab Parliament’s call for the importance of spreading the values of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence, rejecting hatred and extremism.

Communications minister, Arab League senior official talk communications coordination

Amman, Minister of Government Communication Faisal Shboul and Head of the Media and the Communication Sector of the Arab League, Ahmed Khattabi, Saturday held talks in Amman on enhancing coordination on communications.

During the meeting, Shboul noted the “importance” of cooperation and coordination between Jordan and the Arab League regarding strengthening and developing the joint Arab media framework and what Jordan is doing within the Council of Arab Information Ministers.

He talked about the challenges facing media and communication that come in the form of social media and modern media platforms, whether on the public, Arab content and the issues of the Arab nation.

Shboul noted the draft law submitted by Jordan to the pan-Arab organisation to regulate the flow of information from international media companies, adding that the draft law aims to set controls for Arab content published on social media, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

In turn, Khattabi praised Jordan’s hosting of Arab media forums and meetings through coordination and consultation with the media and communication sector in the Arab League.

The meeting came on the sidelines of the Arab Media Forum and was organised by the League of Arab States.

Chamber: Saudi Arabia a strategic market with opportunities for Jordan industry

Amman, Saudi Arabia is a key and strategic market for the Jordanian industry, and it holds great opportunities in various sectors, according to wood industries and furniture sector representative at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Taher Khaled.

He said after a Jordanian delegation’s visit to the Jeddah, Madina and Makkah Chambers of Commerce and Industry that the Saudi market provides a great opportunity for Jordanian industry, adding that the visit “will be followed by positive steps and outcomes soon.”

In a statement, Khaled noted that Jordan imports raw materials from Saudi Arabia, especially the plastic industry, pointing to “existing opportunities for industrial integration that can be built on.”

The Jordanian industry is a promising and developing sector, whose exports account for 90 percent of the Kingdom’s total exports, with a value of more than $7billion annually.

Minister: Productive families enterprises create jobs for youth, empower women economically

Amman, Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa said on Saturday that the ministry endeavors to enhance the productivity of poor families through small enterprises that are being implemented through the ministry, charities and local community development centers.

She said during the opening ceremony of an exhibition of small business products that such fairs move families from receiving financial aid into production, create jobs for youth and empower women economically.

The minister pointed out that a group of families benefiting from National Aid Fund programs are participating in the exhibition, pledging to “work in the coming period to develop small enterprises to gradually become large ones.

Mustafa pointed to the quality of products, ehich, she said, should be electronically marketed globally.

Some 130 small businesses from the Kingdom’s governorates are taking part in the exhibition, which is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, led by the Danish Refugee Council, in partnership with the Jordan River Foundation and Mercy Corps. The exhibition is meant to give participants new space to display and sell their products, network with available economic opportunities and access and compete in the labor market.

2 Israeli settlers injured in attack in occupied East Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem, Two Jewish settlers were seriously injured on Saturday in a shooting incident in Silwan neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem, a day after a Palestinian gunman shot dead seven Israelis and wounded seventeen others, according to Israeli media.

The Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that shooting was heard in Silwan, south of Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, which turned to be a new attack.

Meantime, Israeli forces raided the home of 21-year-old Khairi Alqam, who was killed in yesterday’s deadly attack in the settlement of Nevi Yacob, north of Jerusalem, and arrested 15 young men who were in the house, bringing the total number of those rounded up to 42, many of them were relatives of the gunman, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Israeli police were on high alert since the early morning across East Jerusalem in anticipation of further attacks.

Over 585,000 live sheep exported from Mafraq Governorate to Arab Gulf markets in 2022

Mafraq, The Mafraq governorate exported 585,687 heads of livestock to Arab Gulf states in 2022, according to the Mafraq Agriculture Department.

The Saudi market had the lion’s share of exported live sheep, at 416,781 heads, followed by Qatar at 78,385, Kuwait 75,315, Bahrain 12,485 and the United Arab Emirates 2,721, said the department’s director Ibtihal Khreishah.

She pointed out that the exports to the Gulf countries rose last year, which helped livestock breeders to improve their income and livelihood.

The sheep were subjected to procedures at the Sarra Veterinary Model Quarantine in line with up-to-date standards and health requirements demanded by foreign markets, including a 21-day quarantine period, health supervision and immunization against epidemics, after which a disease-free certificate is issued, Khreishah explained.

Two brothers reportedly missing found dead-PSD

Amman, The security apparatuses on Saturday morning found the bodies of two brothers, who were reportedly missing yesterday, in Busira area in southern Tafilah governorate.

In a statement, media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said a criminal suspicion was involved in the duo’s death, and an investigative team was formed to examine the case.
