Royal Medical Services, BOC sign agreement

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has today inked an agreement with the Romal Medical Services to step joint cooperation and provide health services to sports people.

The signing of the deal followed directives from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

Royal Medical Services Acting Commander Brigadier Dr. Shaikh Fahd bin Khalifa and BOC Secretary Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji co-signed the agreement at HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad’s Al Wadi Palace.

Brig. Dr. Shaikh Fahd bin Khalifa expressed thanks and gratitude to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for his directives to seal the deal, which ushers in prospects for cooperation between the Royal Medical Services and the sports sector.

“The Royal Medical Services will contribute through this agreement to providing care and medical services to players and members of the national teams (Team Team)”, he said.

Al Kooheji stressed the importance of the agreement, stressing HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad’s keenness to supporting national teams and providing them with medical care.

Under the deal, the hospitals affiliated with the BDF Royal Medical Services will provide health care for national teams, based on a BOC list in coordination with associations.

The list includes the BDF Hospital, the King Hamad University Hospital, the Mohammed bin Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre (MKCC)

Derasat 6th annual forum to focus on women’s role in policy making, research

Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), in association with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has announced that the 6th Annual Derasat Forum themed “The Role of Women in Policy-Making, Think Tanks, and Research” will be held on June 14-15.

The forum will discuss the advanced role of women in research and think thanks, their initiatives and deliverables, and challenges they face. It will also highlight current and future initiatives to support the role of women in think tanks.

Hala Al Ansari, Secretary General of the SCW noted the efforts of Derasat, chaired by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in research work and engaging with pressing topics and issues.

Al Ansari wished success for this year’s forum which focuses on the role of women as contributors to policy-making and research centres.

She thanked Derasat for providing this platform to showcase the contributions of women in this domain and other disciplines and highlight Bahrain’s advanced status in gender balance and equity.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Board of Trustees Chairman of Derasat, said that theme of the upcoming forum is consistent with the center’s vision to enhance sustainable development and constructive cooperation with national, regional and international partners.

He affirmed the importance of the forum in shedding light on the contribution of Bahraini and GCC women on domestic, regional and international levels.

He noted the SCW’s role in promoting the Bahraini model in the progress and empowerment of women and gender balance.

The annual forum aims to raise scientific debates, and explore opportunities to enhance the developments that are important to Bahrain and the GCC through inviting academicians and

intelligentsia, in addition to experts in the field of development and suitability.
