AMMAN: Jordan's olive oil production has surged by 40.2% in the first two months of the current 2024 season compared to the same period last year, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS). The report highlights a significant increase in production, with 34.03 thousand tons of olive oil produced from October 12 to December 11, up from 24.27 thousand tons during the same timeframe in the previous season. According to Jordan News Agency, the geographical distribution of production reveals that the northern Irbid governorate leads with a substantial volume of 17,000 tons. Ajloun follows with 6,200 tons, and the central Balqa governorate ranks third with approximately 3,200 tons. Aqaba governorate reported the lowest production, with an estimated 200 tons. The department plans to release the final results of the olive season early next year, providing a comprehensive overview of the country's olive oil production achievements.
