211,000 Students Participate in Summer Quran Memorization Programs

Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh, on Thursday sponsored the closing ceremony of the free summer Quran memorization, recitation, and Tajweed programs for school students of all ages.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry launched the summer programs in late June in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment under the theme "A Cleaner Environment... A More Refined Society." These programs included various educational activities designed to reinforce students' religious and national values while also implementing volunteer initiatives and campaigns to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness.

Minister of Environment, Ayman Suleiman, joined Dr. Khalaileh at the ceremony, where Khalaileh emphasized that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and a societal behavior that aligns with the teachings of Islam and human awareness. More than 2,000 centers affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf operate throughout the year to monitor students and reinforce the outcomes of the summer programs.

Dr. Hatem Suhaimat, Director of the Ministry's Religious Education, noted that approximately 211,000 male and female students participated in the programs this year. Dr. Lamis Hazim, Director of Women's Affairs at the Ministry, reported that 2,107 summer centers were designated for female students, with about 125,000 female participants enrolled.

Concluding the ceremony, which was attended by senior officials of the ministry, Dr. Khalaileh honored 12 outstanding summer centers in recognition of their efforts and excellence in implementing the programs and activities scheduled during the season.
