26 Killed in Boat Capsize on Nigeria’s Niger River


Amman: At least 26 people were killed on Wednesday when a boat capsized on the Niger River in south-central Nigeria, local authorities said. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, spokesman for Kogi State, stated in a statement on the X platform that initial information confirmed the deaths of no fewer than 26 passengers.



According to Jordan News Agency, the boat was carrying traders traveling from Ibaji in Kogi State to a market in Illushi, Edo State, on the opposite bank of the river when it overturned.
