Amman: The 21st Hashemite Competition for Holy Quran Memorisation and Recitation for Women concluded activities on Wednesday, featuring seven categories with five winners in each group.
According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, spoke at the honoring ceremony, stating that the competition is part of the ongoing Hashemite mission to care for the Holy Quran and its people. Khalayleh highlighted the continuous Royal support under His Majesty King Abdullah II's initiative to complete the recitation of the Holy Quran in the Kingdom's mosques, as well as the continuation of Quranic study circles at Al-Aqsa Mosque despite challenging circumstances.
He emphasized that the Holy Quran will remain a guiding principle in Muslims' lives, calling for adherence to its values, reflection upon its teachings, and acting upon its instructions. He affirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting Quranic centers nationwide and organizing competitions that aim to promote Quranic values and translate them into practical behavior.
Dr. Khalayleh also announced plans to continue these competitions despite the region's current challenges and circumstances, underscoring the commitment to serving the Holy Quran. Dr. Lamis Al-Hazim, Director of the Ministry's Women's Affairs, noted that this competition, launched in 2006 under royal patronage, continues to attract participants of all ages and provides a competitive environment based on skillful performance and accurate memorization, overseen by specialized judging panels.
She reported that a total of 2,448 participants engaged in this year's competitions from various governorates, with 35 winners honored after rigorous qualifying rounds. Concluding the ceremony, the minister handed over certificates to the female winners.
