The Ministry of Health announced Saturday it recorded 40 coronavirus deaths and 1,920 infections, bringing the death total from the pandemic to 12,191 and the infection tally to 1,033,469.

The positivity rate of PCR tests collected today was 5.91 per cent, according to the daily media brief by the ministry.

It said that the number of currently active cases in the Kingdom reached 62,068, while 157 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals today and 107 were discharged. The total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized was 1,287, it said.

The daily report also said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 30 per cent, intensive care beds 52 per cent and respirators 31 per cent.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 33 per cent, intensive care beds 44 per cent and respirators 22 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 11%, intensive care beds 17% and respirators 11 per cent, said the ministry.

It also registered 4,555 cases of recovery from the virus across the country, bringing the total number of expected recoveries after the end of the 14-day isolation period to 959,210.

According to the daily brief, the number of those who received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine reached 4,266,786, while 3,854,574 were double-jabbed.
