Amman: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in partnership with the National Commission for the Implementation of IHL (NCIIHL), organized the "6th National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law (IHL)" at the Jordanian Judicial Institute in Amman. The event took place over two days, on the 27th and 28th of October. According to Jordan News Agency, law faculties from 14 Jordanian public and private universities participated in the competition. Among the universities represented were the University of Jordan, Al al-Bayt University, Jadara University, Ajloun National University, Zarqa University, Irbid Private University, Applied Science University, Petra University, Philadelphia University, Jerash University, Islamic Sciences University, Amman Arab University, Mu'tah University, and Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The competition aims to enhance the understanding and respect for IHL and contribute to the advancement of its teaching and learning methodologies within higher educat ion institutions. It adopts a practical approach that engages students, encouraging innovation and critical thinking about various IHL issues. Yann Fridez, Head of ICRC Delegation in Amman, emphasized the relevance of such competitions in today's context. He noted that the ICRC continues to promote awareness and acceptance of IHL as a legal framework that, when adhered to, saves lives and upholds human dignity. The competition concluded with the Applied Science University team securing the 1st place, while the Irbid Private University team claimed the 2nd place. All participating teams were recognized for their efforts and active participation. The winning team will have the opportunity to represent Jordan at the Regional Moot Court Competition in 2026.
