Riyadh: Director General of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Ghaleb Hijazi, participated in the Second Global Labor Market Conference, which began on Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During a dialogue session titled "Escalating Tensions in the Context of Global Changes," Hijazi emphasized the necessity of adapting to economic and technological changes in global markets.
According to Jordan News Agency, Hijazi underscored the importance of enhancing collaboration among governments, the private sector, and labor organizations to address emerging challenges such as automation, artificial intelligence, and changes in supply chains. He highlighted the need for initiatives that improve skills and provide continuous training for workers to secure new opportunities in the labor market while maintaining wage stability and ensuring job security.
Hijazi further commented that achieving a balance between technological development and social justice requires innovative strategies that combine efforts to improve the workplace and enhance vocational training. He called for joint efforts by the public and private sectors to devise solutions that protect workers' rights and enhance their ability to adapt to rapid market changes.
Moreover, Hijazi stressed the importance of promoting flexible workplaces to accommodate these transformations, emphasizing the need for developing legal and regulatory frameworks to manage these shifts fairly and effectively.
The conference, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, aims to lead global discussions on the future of labor markets, improve education and training quality, provide balanced job opportunities, and strengthen international cooperation. With over 50 dialogues and workshops, more than 150 speakers will participate to exchange ideas and expertise, fostering cooperation to drive positive changes in work-related practices.
