Amman, Exports by factories registered with the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) picked up by 43 percent in 2022 to a total of JD7.577 billion against JD5.296 billion in 2021, according to a report the Chamber released on Monday.

In its report, the chamber said exports of the sub-industrial sectors have seen a 4-percent growth for the leather and knitting industries and an 89-percent for the mining industries.

More than half of the exports by factories registered with the ACI went to India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq totaling JD3.936 billion. Exports to Arab countries constituted 40.3 percent of the total exports totaling JD3.1 billion, signaling a growth rate of 32.7 percent compared to 2021.

The Chamber’s exports from the mining industries sector during the past year amounted to JD2.6 billion, signaling a growth rate of 89 percent compared to 2021, followed by the chemical and cosmetic industries sector, which reached about JD1.4 billion in 2022, up by 28 percent, the engineering industries sector, up by 48 percent, to JD909 million, and foodstuffs, agricultural, and livestock industries, which amounted to JD700 million in 2021.
