Aqaba: The Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) announced a landmark achievement, registering its highest volume ever in September with 94,541 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), marking a new record for the terminal.
According to Jordan News Agency, this achievement surpasses the previous high set in May 2025, which was 92,348 TEUs. This milestone illustrates ACT's readiness and significant capacity to accommodate growth, while also reflecting the growing confidence of customers and partners in Jordan and the surrounding region.
In a recent press conference, Adnan Yaqoubi, the Chief Operating Officer of ACT, attributed this success to the terminal's sustained high performance. Yaqoubi highlighted that the company efficiently managed 52 ships throughout the month, resulting in a 30% increase in TEU handling compared to the same month last year.
Yaqoubi also noted a record volume of transit cargo, reaching 7,521 TEUs, which accounted for 16% of the total incoming containers, a significant rise from 6% in the same month last year. This increase underscores the market's growing confidence in ACT's services.
Furthermore, ACT set another record in truck-related traffic, handling 36,145 truck movements compared to 27,703 during the same period last year. This translates to a daily average of 1,205 trucks, including 919 incoming lorries.
The average truck turnaround time for entry and exit through the port's gates was recorded at 33 minutes, aligning with the highest international standards for port efficiency. Yaqoubi emphasized the company's ongoing efforts to reduce waiting times at the container facility and minimize any expected delays.
