Amman: The Ministry of Agriculture's Extension Programs Directorate organized a field day focused on modern irrigation techniques. The event targeted interested women and farmers in the southwestern governorate, aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in agriculture.
According to Jordan News Agency, the field day is part of the Ministry's Farmer Field Schools (FFS) plan, promoting efficient water use and modern agricultural practices in response to climate change. The event featured both theoretical and practical training sessions conducted by a team from the Tafileh Agriculture Directorate. Attendees learned about various irrigation systems and techniques, including drip and sprinkler systems, smart control systems, and methods to conserve water and improve irrigation efficiency on farms.
Tafileh Director of Agriculture Bilal Haloul noted that the program is part of ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural awareness and empower sector workers to adopt modern technologies, thereby improving production and reducing costs. The field day is one of a series of sessions designed to support farmers by providing practical knowledge for integrated orchard management and achieving optimal efficiency in water resource use.
During the sessions, presentations on contemporary irrigation techniques highlighted the impact of drip irrigation on quality, productivity, and water loss reduction. Participants also observed irrigation system components and operational mechanisms in the field, monitoring soil water behavior and engaging with technical questions to evaluate performance.
