Amman: Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Khreisat, held discussions with Dr. Vrej Jijyan, the Country Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), regarding the cooperation in the implementation of the second phase of the Small Ruminant Investment and Rural Households Out of Poverty Project.

According to Jordan News Agency, the new stage of the project aims to build on the outcomes of the first phase that is currently underway in the northern and central governorates of the Kingdom. The ministry's statement emphasized that the primary goal is to enhance the services provided to farmers, boost productivity in small agricultural projects, and contribute to poverty alleviation, thereby promoting access to sustainable livelihoods.

During the meeting, Dr. Khreisat expressed gratitude for IFAD's ongoing support in developing the agricultural sector in the Kingdom. He underscored that this support is crucial in aiding small farmers, forming agricultural alliances, and overseeing production and marketing phases to ensure improved food security.

Furthermore, the minister stressed the importance of forming effective partnerships with international organizations. Such collaborations are seen as vital in advancing Jordan's economic modernization processes and supporting the agricultural sector, which is considered fundamental to achieving food security.
