Al-Balqa Applied University Advances in QS Arab University Rankings

Accra:Al-Balqa Applied University has risen 12 places to rank 59th among Arab universities in the 2027 QS Arab University Rankings, improving from 71st in 2026. The university showed significant advancements in employer and academic reputation scores.

According to Jordan News Agency, BAU President Ahmad Al-Ajlouni attributed this achievement to enhancements in academic and research performance. He highlighted the university's focus on applied and technical education, as well as efforts to boost its competitiveness both regionally and internationally.

The university's progress was credited to the development of academic programs, an increased focus on research and innovation, expanded partnerships with academic institutions and industries, and upgrades to its technological infrastructure. Al-Ajlouni emphasized the alignment of BAU's programs with labor market needs, providing students with practical training and essential skills to enhance their employment prospects.

He also noted that the improvement in the university's employer reputation score reflects growing confidence in its graduates. Al-Ajlouni stressed that rankings should be used to assess institutional performance and guide development rather than being viewed as an end goal.

The university's strategic plan for 2026-2030 emphasizes teaching quality, research excellence, digital transformation, internationalization, institutional partnerships, governance, and sustainability. Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance Haitham Shibli reported a significant increase in BAU's employer reputation score, which rose by 20.1 points to 68.5 in 2027.

Additionally, the academic reputation score improved from 42 to 46.2, and the international faculty score rose from 78.6 to 83.4. Shibli mentioned that the university regularly assesses its performance against ranking indicators and comparable institutions to identify areas for improvement and develop measurable action plans. Under its strategic plan, BAU aims to continue enhancing research quality, international academic collaboration, graduate employability, and academic reputation.
