The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, confirmed today, Friday, that investing in tourism as one of the sources that provides financial revenues for the state. Al-Hakim said in a statement that "Iraq has religious, historical, environmental and cultural landmarks that make it a destination for tourists and one of the most important tourist countries in the region." He added, "On World Tourism Day, we urge the concerned authorities to pay attention to tourist sites and landmarks in a way that makes them suitable for receiving tourists, and to invest in tourism as one of the sources of income in addition to agriculture, industry, investment, technology and other files capable of providing large financial revenues to leave the single-income rentier state."
