Al Malath Foundation Collaborates with Taiwan’s Tzu Chi to Launch Hospice Center

Amman:Al Malath Foundation for Palliative Care has entered into a partnership with Taiwan's Tzu Chi Foundation to establish Bayt Al Malath, marking Jordan's first specialized inpatient palliative care center. The cooperation agreement was signed by Mahmoud Sarhan, Chair of Al Malath Foundation, and Po-Wen Yen, CEO of Tzu Chi Foundation, with HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan, Honorary President of Al Malath Foundation, in attendance.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bayt Al Malath aims to provide a secure environment for patients dealing with advanced, life-limiting illnesses, particularly those unable to receive adequate care at home due to medical or other constraints. The center will focus on alleviating physical suffering and offering families a peaceful setting to support their loved ones.

Mahmoud Sarhan emphasized that the center embodies Al Malath's belief in maintaining care even when curative options are no longer viable, ensuring that every patient can spend their remaining days with dignity and comfort. Established in 1993, Al Malath has been offering free, comprehensive home-based palliative care, encompassing medical, nursing, psychological, and social support. The new hospice facility will expand this mission for patients who require inpatient care.

Tzu Chi Foundation, founded in Taiwan in 1966, brings its international relief and healthcare expertise to this collaboration, enhancing the scope and reach of palliative care in Jordan.
