Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, discussed with the Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, today, Wednesday, the political and security developments and the repercussions of targeting Arbid Air Airport in Sulaymaniyah.

The Coalition said in a statement: “The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bavel Talabani, and his accompanying delegation, and during the meeting, the latest political and security developments were discussed, and the repercussions of targeting Arbid Air Airport in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.”

The Coalition added in its statement, “Al-Maliki expressed his strong condemnation of the incident that occurred yesterday, considering this attack a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty,” calling on neighboring countries to “respect Iraq’s sovereignty and move away from using the force approach to solve outstanding problems,” noting that “ “The importance of continuing national efforts and endeavors in order to establish stability and provide more services to citizens in various fields.”

For his part, Bavel Talabani appreciated Al-Maliki’s positions in support of resolving the existing problems between the federal government and the Kurdistan region through dialogue, and the recent agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan region regarding the salaries of employees in the region, saying: Our policy is clear and our goal is to provide services, and for this we have worked since the beginning for solving problems, and our goal was for the constitution to be a basis for solving problems,” adding, “Coordination and joint work are a factor of stability and building a future worthy of our Iraqi people.”
