Amman:The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has initiated a pilot program aimed at reducing unpleasant odors in Downtown Amman by employing beneficial bacteria.
According to Jordan News Agency, the biological treatment is carried out by GAM's Vector Control and Animal Care Department. This process involves the use of "eco-friendly" microorganisms that break down organic waste, which is identified as the main source of the unpleasant smells, thereby significantly enhancing urban air quality.
Specialized teams are overseeing the field trial to evaluate its success before considering expanding the program to additional neighborhoods.
The GAM emphasized that this biological treatment is intended to complement its existing street cleaning and site maintenance operations, with the goal of improving the overall environmental quality in the capital's historic downtown area.
