April 30 Announced Public Holiday for Labour Day

Amman: Marking International Workers' Day, observed annually on May 1, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan announced in an official circular issued Wednesday that all ministries, government departments, public institutions and authorities, public universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and fully government-owned companies will be closed on Thursday, April 30, 2026. According to Jordan News Agency, this move is in recognition of the contributions made by workers across various sectors. The decision underscores the importance of workers in the nation's development and aligns with global practices of honoring labor forces on this significant day. The announcement ensures that employees across the public sector will have the opportunity to observe Labour Day, allowing them to partake in any celebrations or activities planned for the occasion.
