Aqaba: The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) have signed a memorandum of cooperation to enhance joint developmental efforts and empower youth, aiming to achieve sustainable development in the Aqaba Governorate.
According to Jordan News Agency, this memorandum, signed under the patronage of ASEZA Chief Commissioner Shadi Majali, aims to consolidate efforts between the two institutions to support targeted groups in entrepreneurship, skills development, and community empowerment, utilizing their expertise in development and social work.
Nidal Awran, Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety at ASEZA, emphasized the significance of this memorandum, aligning with ASEZA's vision and its strategic plan for 2024-2028. The focus is particularly on entrepreneurship and innovation in youth empowerment and local community development.
Mohammad Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, stated that the agreement involves continuous consultation and coordination between the two parties to implement joint initiatives in 2026. It also includes providing technical support, offering advice for projects, leveraging institutional expertise, and collaborating to identify development opportunities in Aqaba, linking them to feasible joint projects within available resources.
Abdul Fattah Kayed, Director General of the Fund, noted that the memorandum is a critical step toward expanding cooperation between national institutions in community development and youth empowerment. He mentioned that the Fund has been a pioneer in organizing high-quality activities in Aqaba, such as the e-sports summit.
