Aqaba Container Terminal Records 14.8% Jump in July Cargo Volumes

Aqaba: The Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) achieved a significant operational milestone in July by handling 101,900 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), marking a 14.8% rise compared to 88,781 TEUs in the same month of 2025.

According to Jordan News Agency, ACT navigated regional challenges, including severe congestion at neighboring ports that delayed shipments, by processing over 31,000 import transactions in July. Transit cargo saw a substantial increase of 180.9%, reaching 20,237 TEUs compared to 7,205 TEUs in July 2025. External truck movements also experienced a rise of 16.5%, totaling 61,075.

In the first seven months of 2026, ACT handled 573,680 TEUs, showing a 3% increase from 556,843 TEUs during the same period the previous year. ACT CEO Jose Rueda credited the success to the workforce's resilience and proactive decision-making. This includes leveraging the Aqaba Logistics Village (ALV) to expand capacity in anticipation of demand.

Rueda emphasized ACT's dedication to investing in personnel, infrastructure, and partnerships to enhance Jordan's supply chains and reinforce its status as a premier regional logistics hub.
