Aqaba Transport Firm Achieves Milestone of 1.5 Million Passengers

Aqaba: The Aqaba Transport and Logistic Services Company has recently celebrated a significant milestone, with 1.5 million passengers utilizing its transportation services over the past year. The achievement was announced at a ceremony overseen by Shadi Al-Majali, Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), and attended by Aqaba Governor Ayman Al-Awaisheh, along with members of the Board of Commissioners, and various official and community representatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, the company's Chief Executive Officer, Khaled Abu Abdullah, emphasized that this milestone represents a qualitative leap and is part of a strategic roadmap to establish a national model for an integrated urban transport system. This model aims to be replicated across the Kingdom, highlighting the success of the company's development-oriented approach. The approach is centered around measured expansion, improved service quality, and enhanced operational efficiency.

Abu Abdullah outlined the company's strategic plan for 2025-2028, which aims to increase the number of passengers to two million by 2028. This plan includes adding 14 modern buses to the fleet by mid-year, creating new job opportunities, transitioning towards environmentally friendly transport options, and launching a dedicated electronic application for Aqaba's transport system to improve user experience and urban transport quality.

Since its establishment in 2009, the company has grown from a capital of JD300,000 and a fleet of 10 buses to a capital of approximately JD3 million and a fleet of 81 buses. The workforce has also expanded to 325 employees. Passenger numbers have increased significantly from about 150,000 in 2017 to 1.5 million in 2025, demonstrating a qualitative transformation in Aqaba's public transport system. This transformation is attributed to the development of operational infrastructure, ensuring service regularity, and enhancing quality and safety standards through electronic tracking systems, smart monitoring, and the adoption of various electronic payment methods.

The ceremony concluded with ASEZA Chairman inaugurating the newly rehabilitated administration building of the company. The event included a tour of the facilities, departments, and modern equipment, all part of the company's institutional development project.
