Arab Interior Ministers Council Adopts New Phases of Key Strategies in Tunis


Tunis: The Council of Arab Interior Ministers, during its 42nd session held in Tunis, approved the 11th phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat the Illicit Use of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. The session saw the attendance of Minister of Interior, Mazen Faraya.



According to Jordan News Agency, the council also adopted the 7th phase of the Arab Strategy for Civil Protection (Civil Defense) and the 2nd phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat Cybercrime. These strategic adoptions are part of the council’s ongoing efforts to enhance regional cooperation in addressing critical security challenges.



The council further endorsed the report on the activities of the General Secretariat and the report on the activities of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, covering the period between the 41st and 42nd sessions. These reports highlight the progress and initiatives undertaken by these bodies in the past year.



In a key administrative decision, the council reappointed Mohammad bin Ali Koman as Secretary-General for a new term and appointed Tariq Majali as Assistant Secretary-General of the council. These appointments are expected to provide continuity and leadership in the council’s activities.



Additionally, the council approved a memorandum of understanding between the General Secretariat of the council and the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law. The Secretary-General has been authorized to sign this agreement, which aims to strengthen cooperation in justice and the rule of law within the Arab region.
