Arab league: Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy on Monday welcomed a joint statement from eight Arab and Islamic nations condemning Israel's rejection of a Gaza peace roadmap.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fahmy stated that the Israeli government's position is a "clear intent" to obstruct mediation efforts and maintain the current situation in Gaza. He warned that Israel's stance would exacerbate daily casualties, expand military occupation, and worsen the humanitarian crisis for over two million Palestinians.
Fahmy accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of prioritizing domestic political considerations over international consensus. He noted that Israel's rejection goes against UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and mediator-led arrangements. These arrangements include disarming Hamas, an Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of an international peacekeeping force, and the transfer of administrative control to a national committee to govern Gaza.
He further added that Israel is attempting to impose terms on both Palestinians and the international community without committing to cease hostilities or withdrawing its forces.
