Arab League Denounces Israeli Military Actions in Lebanon

Cairo: Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon. He denounced the targeting of Lebanese infrastructure and bridges as a violation of the country's sovereignty and a breach of international law.

According to Jordan News Agency, Jamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, stated that Israel's intentions are becoming more apparent, accusing it of attempting to establish a buffer zone in southern Lebanon. He also accused Israel of pursuing a policy aimed at fragmenting Lebanon and displacing its population.

Roshdy emphasized that the United Nations Security Council is responsible for halting these attacks and ensuring Israel's adherence to international law and UN resolutions, including the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.

The spokesperson also expressed the Secretary-General's concern about the rising tensions in Lebanon due to Israeli aggression. He reiterated the Arab League's support for the Lebanese state's efforts to maintain civil peace and address the humanitarian crisis, with the assistance of the Arab Ministers of Health and Social Affairs Councils.
